Amazing Spa!
By ,
It's sad to see a bad review over someone losing their gift card. It's not the Chrysalis' fault you lost it. I have been coming here for years and they offer superb service and treatments. They make you feel like a queen! As for the relaxation room being crowded, they have another room you can sit it when it is full. It is a dark room with sparkling stars on the ceiling and heated benches, so relaxing! And it goes to show they are a great spa if they are busy! I highly recommend this inn and spa, i always leave there feeling so peaceful.

Frustrating
By ,
It's a beautiful place and it frustrates me that there seems to be is nothing to be done about the train sounds. You get the idea when you check into your room to see ear plugs next to the bed. Airport hotels manage to glaze windows somehow. I am not a Montana farmer, I live in the heart of Manhattan, so am used to noise, but I've never heard anything like this. I stayed for 3 nights and wish I'd left at dawn the first morning after.

The Best of the Best
By ,
There is NO place in this area that is better. Great views, great access to downtown, and all transportation; train, airplane, and boats are a stone's throw. You can walk to the restuarants. I only wish I could go two weeks at a time. Any criticism about train noise is hogwash or by a farmer from the plains of Montana. This is a place for a romantic fling.

Fabulous Spajama Party Package
By ,
My best friend came out for a visit from Ohio and we purchased the "Spajama Party". It was so much fun! What a great way to pamper you and a friend. A platter of cheese, crackers, pate, and fruit waiting for you. A bottle of Washington wine. Two chair massages, two in room services either a pedicure or manicure. Breathtaking view of Bellingham Bay, window seat, fire place, and comfortable bedding. I will definately return.

Beware of the Trains
By ,
The setting and the room were lovely even though it was stormy as we arrived for our two night stay. We were given a room on the ground floor overlooking the water. Later as we were reading comfortably on the wide windowseat, we were charmed by a passing train. Alas, the train is far less charming as it roars past at 3:30 AM. It did get my heart pounding! If you stay here, do ask for a room on a higher floor, or one further from the water side of the building. Also, skip the complimentary breakfat unless you are a fan of cold, rubbery scrambled eggs. The choices are limited and not that appealing. Bellingham has many fine reataurants where you can enjoy a much more satisfying meal. Be sure to take a walk on the boardwalk that goes out over the Bay in front of the Inn. It's a relaxing, easy stroll and the view is unsurpassed.

Fabulous!
By ,
My wife and I hae stayed here numerous times...and we will continue to stay here (has become a wonderful tradition). The bedding is extremely comfortable, the tubs are HUGE, the staff are great...and the price is not that bad! Throw in a spa time...walk over to Archers for a pint or glass of wine...and end the evening over at Dirty Dans...and you have a WONDERFUL evening!

Nice if you can sleep next to a train
By ,
Nice, larger room with big bath tubs. Good beds, great steam room. It would be excellent, but the inn is located about 100 yards from a very busy train track. If you can sleep with noise and the building shaking because of the train passing nearby, then go and visit, avoid otherwise!!!

Fino Wine Bar falls short!
The Chryslis Hotel is lovely and the location breathtaking ... but be aware of shoddy wait service at the Fino Wine Bar. My husband and I love visiting this hotel and always give the restaurant just another try but we're always disappointed. The location and food/spirits are wonderful but the waitstaff service always brings the experience down. Too bad because it is one of the nicest locations in the Bellingham area to enjoy a nice meal.

Finally tried it, would not recommend.
By ,
Since 2000, we have wanted to go there, it looked so appealing. Finally went in October 2006. We was so disappointed!! First, it is right by the railroad tracks and we had to deal with many loud, long noisy trains, blowing their horns each night. It is a main train route. Should have realize something was funny when they supply ear plugs for you, that are on the night stand. Also, when we complained about the children in the room above us, why children are allowed in a place like that is something I don't understand, jumping and running around until 11:00pm and it started up again at 6:00am, we were not offered any compensation of any kind. Only, "oh, we are sorry". An Inn / Spa is suppose to be relaxing and quite, that is why you go there. We left there tired because we never got a good nights sleep. And then the complimentary breakfast was a joke for a Hotel/Spa, I was expecting so much more. Food was so bad, no choices, not cooked for you, already made, like they bought the stuff, brought it in and set it out. And on top of it, they had a jar labeled "tip jar" on the self serve breakfast buffet. Tips for what? I had to serve myself. They expected tips/gratuities everytime you turned around, and in the rooms, you received no extra amenties, unless you wanted to buy them, provided for you in their little baskets and they were very expensive. Come on, this is Bellingham Washington, not Seattle. I would never go back, too expensive and not worth the money.

Heavenly
By ,
We love this hotel and love the location. If you want a low key holiday this is the place. We love that you can walk to Fairhaven and spend hours in Village Books and wandering through the other stores (far away from malls) and walk along the pier or buy groceries without getting in your car. We ordered room service and the food was better than many 5 star hotels we stayed in. Will definately return many times. The train noise doesn't bother you but someone filling their bathtub is kind of noisy.
