Hotel Gault, Montreal

A wonderful, trendy hotel in a great location for being in the heart of the city but feeling like you are in a little neighborhood. We stayed in Sept. 2004 for a weekend. The hotel staff was accommodating, but slightly aloof, but the ambiance is oh-so-chic. The breakfast buffet was delicious and beautifully displayed. The room is both luxurious and sparse, with a duvet like a deep gray cloud on the spacious and comfy bed. It played nicely against the modern furniture, light wood, metal fixtures and deep russet sheers. Our room was a smaller loft-style, with fabulous metallic fabric draperies dividing the bath and bed areas. The rooms are scented with a pleasant musky/floral mix. And the views of the local architecture are a great contrast for this modern gem. A true luxury experience for the senses!

The Bad: a little off the beaten track for where we went in Montreal most often. The Good: Everything else. You will not find better service at any hotel - anywhere...ever. The staff gave us a dinner recommendation in Old Montreal - when we could not find the restaurant and called the Gault to get directions again - the concierge left the hotel and met us where we were lost a few blocks away to give us directions again in person (and even pointed out a couple other options)!! Does that ever happen?!?! The rooms were clean - contemporary yet quite comfy. Staying at the Gault was truly a treat!

A real home away from home....The staff are attentive, the atmosphere is really cool, the price is right...It is really a Montreal experience.
