Beach Palms, Sarasota

Do NOT believe the review about the place being dirty--it's not. It's charming, perfectly located to the beach and the village, and it has character. If you're expecting a concierge and huge flat screens, you WILL be disappointed, but if you're looking for a laid back cottage in a peaceful environment, you'll love this place. Check out the reviews on tripadvisor (there are a LOT more so you can trust the feedback more than yahoo, which only has a few reviews).

I usually ignore the lowest rating on a travel website figuring it's written by someone who's never satisfied but please don't ignore this review. Do not rent the beach house at 145 Beach Rd. from the Beach Palms of Siesta Key. My family and I were supposed to stay there for one week but the property was so dirty we stayed only three nights and left as soon as we found other accommodations. The floors were so filthy that our feet were black after walking around barefoot. The wicker couch cushions were covered in mold and mildew and other furniture was discolored and falling apart. The bathroom needed scouring; we showered in the outdoor shower. Window sills and window air conditioners were full of dirt and cobwebs. Our food was infested with ants and the house is full of termites. The Beach Palms other cottages are clean inside but the grounds are in desperate need of cleanup and are covered in poisoned ivy (if allergic, beware.) Despite all of this, Beach Palms felt we were being unreasonable to want to leave and would not give us our money back for our unstayed nights. We are still disputing the charges. The location of this property is great but it is not worth all the other disgusting aspects of the house and grounds. There are much cleaner and nicer properties on the Key run by much nicer people. We don't want your family to have the same disappointing experience that we did.

We had a group of 6 women for our annual "Girls Week", so we rented both the yellow and pink cottages. The cottages were great! (you have to remember, they cottages built in the 1950's but have been updated and are clean!!) And the location was superb!! Taking my daughter (10 years old) back this Easter!

very disappointing service and amenities we had insects in our room and the bathroom plumbing wasn't working properly. room had a raw sewage smell in it. very humid in room, poor air conditioning and a very bad musty odor as well.

I had heard about Siesta Key and the beauty of the island from a few friends this past year. When I asked them where I should stay, they all said Beach Palms. It's a fabulous resort. The location is amazing (the beach, the village, etc.). The rooms are clean and tidy with an ambiance to die for. The neat thing is that it's small and cute. It's run by a family so it doesn't have that corporate feel at all. I'm hoping I can make this a yearly thing and look forward to booking again soon.
