Hotel Preciados, Madrid

this hotel was great. i stayed 11 days off and on during my trip to spain. very clean rooms, safe area. great restaurants nearby in chueca and 2 doors down, great tapas. can't wait to go back.. front desk help is wonderful.

THE FIRST PLACE IN SPAIN, AND A VERY GOOD ONE! EXCELLENT SERVICE! GREAT LOCATION ONCE YOU FIND IT. NICE ARGENTINAN RESTAURANT ACROSS THE STREET. YOU WILL BE SAFE AND HAPPY!

I travel a lot worldwide and I always choose my hotels carefully to align with my needs (price is a secondary issue - this room was 135 EUR, which is average for Madrid) Hotel Preciados is a clear mixture of very good and very bad things: Cons: - the air conditionning just does not work (confirmation of previous comments). It does some noise but the temperature stays high (about 23-25C) - the beds are very small and on wheels (they move all the time) - some of the staff was terrible, one older lady was perfect and very helpul - my room had a view on a wall a meter away form the window (NOTE: this is actually a 'Pro' for me as I asked for a very qiuiet room and did not care about the view at all) - you can easily hear other guests walking above you, flushing water etc - TV coverage poor (both amount of stations and quality of the picture, some channels were really bad) - the safe was not working Pros: - the location - free wireless internet access - free minibar - the beds are hard - the room was clean - the size of the room is OK (not enormous but I do not intend to play football here) Overall average. I will probably not stay again, but this would be my forst choice if other hotels are occupied. I think it is great if you are here for one or two nights and do not know Madrid (good location). If I was to stay a week I would chose something else.
