Watch out for "hidden" costs
By KB, 12/17/08
My girlfriend and I spent a weekend at the Hotel Madera... got a great room rate online. The room we got was really great and the view was great too. The breakfast prices were rediculous...a piece of toast was $3, oatmeal $9 8oz OJ was $4....are you serious??? All that comes free at hotels that are a lot cheaper!!!! Parking is $35/night which is not included in your room prices. The location is great and the hotel was pretty clean. I would not stay there again-Just not worth the money when I can get more service/value at a cheaper rate elsewhere.

Super Clean

We loved the Hotel Madera. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. It is in a great location. Made our stay quite enjoyable. We got the room on line for a great rate of $99 a night, can't beat it.

My husband and I returned from a long weekend in DC and stayed at Hotel Madera. The hotel is perfect--location, room size, service, amenities. I can't wait to return!

Great Stay at Hotel Madera
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/14/07
I don't think the great reviews about Hotel Madera are "fake" as one post suggests. For anyone that is familar with Kimpton Hotels, Hotel Madera will not disappoint. Hotel Madera is a boutique hotel and does not have a bellhop or doorman. This is not a problem for me, but some who are expecting that might be disappointed. The staff was so friendly and really seemed to enjoy working there. The rooms have a modern decor and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was small but the vanity was seperate so it was okay. The wine happy hour is a signature of Kimpton hotels and always a nice touch as are the cookies and milk at night if you catch it. Hotel Madera is in a great location, on a lovely neighborhood street just off Dupont Circle. You can walk to many restaurants, shops, and metro. Highly recommend this hotel.

Personal attention from the staff!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/29/07
Holly at the reception desk could not have been more helpful. Jason, the sous-chef in the Firefly restaurant, gave us a recommendation for an off-the-menu soup. Ask for the fennel soup with the oysters. It is his signature soup (the one that got him his job), and it is delicious! We have stayed in Kimpton hotels before, and we feel we always get great value for the money as far as comfort and great location. We look forward to a return visit to the Madera.

Don't believe the hype!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/06/07
Beware: The postings about how great this hotel may be fakes! My fiancee and I recently stayed at this psuedo-luxury hotel for $200/night! Unacceptable for a room the size of our home living room. The location is great, but there are numerous other hotels in the Dupont area that are more spacious and offer new/fresh linen, thicker walls and a more comfortable stay.

Romantic Getaway
By Brian, 05/19/05
Hotel Madera is beautiful. Lush and spacious rooms, and helpful staff all made our stay wonderful. Covenient downtown location, with everything within walking distance. Dinner at Firefly was also excellant. The downstairs restaurant was very intimate and convenient.
