we have always gone to dakota inn for as long as we can remember...it doesn't matter that it's a ways from the fair, or the bowling alley....or to my inlaws...because it's always been a wonderful place to stay...but this last trip may be our last....we found such an increase in the rates, we were shocked....our room had a fast food bag, contents, or what was left of it, and the left over drink on the table, a used soap bar on the sink, and the bed was undone...don't know if someone slept in it, or it wasn't finished being fixed...it's hard to pay those prices , when we were in a room that wasn't readied for the next person...as for the breakfast...bread was dry...donuts shrunk..use to have great bakery fresh donuts...and juice and coffee dispenser, ran mostly water....we would love to come back and stay at our favorite motel, and i know it's hard to get started as new owners, but take the advice of us who have come there for a long time....make it more people friendly, less rules, which seem to be many...and check that everything is ready for the next occupancy....we thank you, don't want to upset you, but are hoping that you'll fix some of the problems....thank you for your time....hopfully a returning guest
I booked five rooms for myself, my fiancee, and family for my wedding. I booked the rooms in August for my Thanksgiving weekend wedding. I called in October to confirm my reservation and was told they did not have any record of my reservation, even though I had held them with my credit card. We got that straightened out, but when I called again the week before my arrival, they had us booked for two rooms for 43 days instead of 4 rooms for 3 days. They fixed that problem too, but the real kicker came when my fiancee's family checked in one day before us. When I reserved the rooms in August they quoted me a price of $55 with a military discount (my husband is in the Air Force), but when my family checked in they charged us $69/night and told them that they were not honoring any discounts on the holiday weekend. We tried to book rooms elsewhere, but no place in Minot had four rooms available. Manager didn't care that they hadn't followed through on promised price and desk clerk was rude to my husband.
Rooms were kinda dirty and my father in law found bugs in his room, as did my sister in law. This used to be a great hotel, but we will never, never, never stay here again and I recommend no one else stay here either.
Avoid this hotel! It is very dirty and should be completely renovated and cleaned. The NEW owners are not attending to the issues of cleanliness....I would not let a dog stay there as the sheets were not clean, the carpet had dirt on it, and was not even vacuumed! Very awful!
We recently stayed for 2 days and were very displeased. Specifically the dirty bedspread had an odour as well as 2 large cigarette burns. A few yellow stains ran down the bathroom wall and also decorated the outside of the toilet bowl. The rug was very stained and the phone was too sticky to use. The bathroom was coated with fuzz and grime.
My family loved the warm pool. Most hotel pools are so cold, our tykes freeze. We had an awesome time at this pool! The continental breakfast was basic (but kids they leave half their breakfast on their plate anyway), would prefer mini-bagels to mini-donuts. The hotel was clean, quiet. Good value for $. Close to mall. Will stay at Dakota Inn the next time we come to Minot.
The sleepinn was ok. Has the best location. Pool is awesome but COLD and always out of towels. We spent much more time in the pool at the Dakota Inn because it was so WARM!
Continental breakfaxt was poor. No orange juice, bad coffee, no variety.
Didn't like the fact that we had to pay for our rooms in total at check in time. Rooms were very damp, but were also clean.
Good location to major shopping mall and restaurants. Continental breakfast was so poor that we ate at Homesteader Restaurants, located beside the Dakotah Inn, which is excellent.
