Great American Inn & Suites, Devils Lake

There was very to like about this motel stay. I spend between 50 and 75 nights per year in motels and I have to say that this place was the worst of the worst. The lowlights of my stay were as follows: The plaster was falling off the walls in big patches, there was black mold bleeding through the walls above the shower, the shower head was so rusted that the water exited the shower head in every direction but at you, the towels were worn out and so thin that you needed two of them just to dry your hair, and the base board heaters were all falling off the wall. The air conditioner was more like a heater, the furniture was probably new sometime in the early 1980's, the TV was new when remote control's first came out. The walls were so thin that I could here phone conversations of the people on either side of me, and the bedding was questionable weather it had been washed or not. The building itself would not pass fire code in most major cities. The walls and ceilings were leaking insulation in the hall ways of the second floor. The access doors to the motel were not secure, did not lock. And last but not least the price. Anything over 15.00 per night is to much.

Don't stay in Devil's Lake if you can avoid it. Not very clean and undesireable.

There was no toilet tissue and regular tissue in the room. There were not enough towels for us. Rooms smelled bad. Bed sheets were not cleaned because it smelled bad.

The motel was not clean! My wife and I arrived at Great American Inn and Suites,(formally called Dakota Motoe Inn),after driving four hours in a blizzard to find our room was dirty, water or something on the toilet seat and the toilet was dirty and plugged!! We were given a new room that wasn't very clean, but the toilet was'nt plugged at least. The only thing that made our stay bearable was our family that had gathered there for an early Christmas celebration. I would only advise hunters and fishermen to stay there. Forget about the pool and hot tub no way would I use them.

I reserved rooms and the banquet hall for my wedding in May, then was called at the end of June by Tabitha (hotel manager) who said she spoke with the hotel manager and he would not allow us to have alcohol in the banquet room if there were minors present, which I have no problem with, but I had already sent almost 75 invitations by then, so I had to scramble trying to find somewhere else to have my reception...then the night of my wedding, I found out my friends that were paying cash had to put down a $100.00 deposit on a 50-75 dollar room. The next day my pregnant girlfriend could not and would not shower because the bathroom was not clean, the sheets were dirty and there were pieces of candy and wrappers underneath the beds and behind the dresser. When she complained the woman at the front desk was rude, yelled and swore at my friend, which really upset me because she was bawling her eyes out. I will never stay in this motel again nor neone i know

After a 400 mile drive,I was looking forward to a relaxing, well-served evening, a father and 14-year-old daughter passing through town. Went to the restaurant at 9 pm (They served until 10 pm, I was informed.) After we seated ourselves, we were informed that we could not be served in the restaurant as it also served as a bar and casino. NOT what I expected after having booked the hotel in part because it had everything on site, including a restaurant.
