Missed being greeted by the owners
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/22/11
Clifwood Motel is always our stop while in Little Falls and Labor Day weekend was no exception to the rule. We still enjoyed a pleasant visit with a clean room, however we really missed the personal greetings by the owners. I guess the sign of success. The clerk was nice. We did BBQ the 1st evening out of the 2 nights we stayed, however I didn't like the fact there was doggie poop in eye view of the BBQ's & Picnic tables though, otherwise very convient to BBQ our dinner and eat it outside rather than out to a restaurant both nights. We went boating on the Mississippi and was able to park our boat at the motel and our boat was never messed with while we slepted. Convient to have Casey's right next to the motel, opened bright & early for hot fresh coffee and a paper as we prepared for our day. We of course will return on our next venture through Little Falls, hope to see the owners around though:)

overall a good motel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/22/11
I liked that when you walked into the room it smelled clean. I'll be honest when i first saw the place i was scared like what did we get ourselves into and then even when we walked into the room it is very dated but my main focus was if it was clean or not. And it was. We did have a mis comunication when it came to our dog. I asked for a non smoking room because i cant stand the smell of smoke and i have 2 young(under2) children that i dont want them to be subjected to smoke well aparently the nonsmoking rooms are also the non dog rooms so we had to be moved to a smoking room i was alittle pissed about that but at least they were willing to move us so our dog didnt have to sleep in the car. All in all it was an okay experiance. It wasent $77 dollars worth tho.

Simply the best!
By Dotty Peterson, 6/16/10
We, my hubby and I wanted room 17 however that was taken.....so we were given room 10, I have to say like room 17, it was simply the best! You may know me from my review from last year (read below) and like I said then we look forward to returning to "our favorite hide-a-way." For us staying at the Clifwood Motel while in the Little Falls area is a given! We'll be back again before years end as I anticipate the wrapping up of my new album that the last recording session to do so was changed due to schedule conflicts along with the recent floods down in Nashville only adding insult to injury, with that being said I won't be returning to the studio in Nashville till Nov. 2010. Till then, maybe I'll see you at the Clifwood motel! Minnesota Based Nashville Recording Artist Dotty Peterson

A step back in time at the Clifwood Motel
By Dotty Peterson, 8/31/09
So that you understand my motivation for choosing Clifwood motel I feel I should explain the reasons why a little more in depth: My husband and I recently got back from Hawaii where we stayed at the Park Shores of Waikiki to celebrate our 25th anniversary and what caught my eye about Park Shores was that it was a hotel noted for it's "Old World Charm". Well since being back to the mainland here in Minnesota with the busy busy of our everyday lives and the finishing touches on my album due for release in the coming months my husband and I wanted to take a weekend away to regain our senses locally and so we decided on a weekend away to Little Falls for it's vast historical appeal, and prior to going away like I always do before we travel about, I searched the internet for motels that "fit the occassion" and I wanted something simple and tucked away, you know something other than the usual chain motels, anyways I found Clifwood motel and after reading the reviews I thought, this sounds delightful. I called to place my reservation for the weekend and while doing so I spoke with Shelly who was just so very pleasant over the phone and I must tell you when arriving there Shelly was just as pleasant in person the entire weekend, in other words the real thing! What I was looking for according to the reviews that caught my attention was a motel with what I call "Old World Charm" well Clifwood is that and more! When my husband opened the door to our room it was like going back 20 plus years when we were first married, it was simply everything I was yearning for. If your looking for all the fluff and bluff of a fancy motel this isn't it but if your looking for a quiet, clean and comfortable stay this is it! Today so much is about "Bling" that I feel so much is lost of yester year that can be so soothing to the soul and Clifwood was very soothing to our souls. Our room was very inviting, clean and the beds so comfortable. My husband and I look forward to making Clifwood motel room 17 our own little hideaway each and everytime we want to get away from it all and as I like to refer to it all as "A step back in time at the Clifwood Motel". Very Nice Accomodations
By Linda, 8/5/09
I stayed 2 nights at the Clifwood in June & I enjoyed my experience. My room had everything I needed, tv, micro, fridge, nicely remodeled , clean bathroom. I love the "old time charm". I appreciated parking my car a few feet from the front door of my room. I will highly recommend to anyone wanting a clean, quiet, conveniently located, pleasant owners and overall pleasant lodging experience in Little Falls MN. The owners Shelly and Shawn were helpful and accomodating. I did not bring my dogs but will for sure when we return this summer. Dogs are welcome as long as they are not left alone & that is so very reasonable-why stay anywhere else? Linda

Hometown hospitality
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/28/09
Great price with friendly owners to greet you. Retro motel with loads of new updates. Small town with lots to do ("Dam Festival" in June!) and convenient interchanges nearby. Owner Shelly gives great advice on local eateries and anything else you might need. Rooms were "retro" but very clean and large compared to the Days Inn we just came from in St. Paul. Simple, but good, accomodations for people who need a room without paying for the extras they don't really want. We're coming back next year instead of staying with the relatives.

In response to CHeapest Place in Town...
By Shell, 2/27/09
I, as the new owner, of the Clifwood Motel in Little Falls, MN feel it very unfortunate that Jorrath Zek had such a negative experience under previous management. I would like to extend an invitation for him to come check out our clean, quiet, friendly and updated motel. Sincerely, Shawn McClure Proud new owner of the Clifwood Motel

The nicest people in the nicest town in MN
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/24/08
Stayed here for two months while working at Camp Ripley. We walked in to an immaculate room, and the owners, Shawn and Shelly went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. They made changes to our room to make it feel more homey and were a wealth of information on things to see and do in the area. The motel is safe and clean, and you won't find their genuine concern for their guests in any chain motel.
