Sundown Motel, Aberdeen

Musty moldy smell. If you enjoyed staying here in the 50's, you'll be happy to know that NOTHING has changed...not even the bedspread.

I have family that live in the Aberdeen area and we were back recently for a reunion. A friend of mine, who I trust very much, recommended the Sundown Motel to me based on one of his past experiences there. Let me first say that this place is not the Ritz, or even the Marriott, for that matter. But let me also say that they don't try to be. They obviously know their place in the market. The Sundown Motel is a small, non corporate, family owned motel in a small town that gets it done the old fashioned way......with hard work and great customer service. It was a truly rewarding experience to stay here. It was nothing flashy, other than the friendly service, clean rooms, reasonable prices and free wi-fi internet (which is very a abnormal perk for a motel of this size). Kudos to the Sundown for being great, refreshing place to stay!

First of all please let me make it clear that i'm mostly writing this review simply because i have,by chance come across a few of the other ones here saying its not a good place to stay??!!?? I strongly disagee!! We (my wife and i) stayed here for one night only in october of 2007 during a trip from Seattle to Chicago. We arrived during a rather short lived but fierce hail storm with freezing tempratures at 11:30pm without a reservation and pulled in on the offchance that there would be a room available! Needless to say there was,and we found it to be spotlessley clean and comfortable with industrial quantities of hot water and a very comfortable bed. Plenty of TV channels too. The gentleman in the office who dealt with us was politeness itself and could not have been more welcoming. He even called in to make sure we had enough towels etc a few minutes after providing us with our room key. The only possible cause for 'complaint' that i can imagine other customers having,given my excellent experience here at this motel is the slightly dated decor,which i happen to like. Having said that,i have been to much more expensive establishments with far more outdated furnishings so you can work it out for yourselves! The Sundown was for me a perfect nights rest after a long long day at the wheel and i would stay again without hesitation.

they have very very bad attitude! bad service! I will never stay in this motel!!The people who answer the phone should be fired!

I loved my stay here. It was like traveling back in time when rooms didn't cost an arm and a leg and the people working there went out of their way to make sure you had enough towels and that everything was O.K.
