Totally awesome
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/19/12
I loved this place. We came up here, no place to live, but couch surfing, and the mountain air offered us a place for us to actually make the move. She's helped us so much, the Mountain Air, is not only a great place to vacation, but a place to make your start.

My home away from home
By Tammy C, 7/7/11
I have receintly acquired a new job in the small town of Welches, and will be here for at least 10 weeks. I was having a very difficult time finding a place to live that was affordiable. I literally stumbled upon this place, and was very grateful that I did. I love the rustic, cabin feel. The room I am is cozy and I feel very safe here. I haven't experienced, drunk or dissorderly folks running the hotel, or patrons visiting. Anytime I am in this area, this will be my home away from home. They are great decent people, and I recommend this motel to everyone I know that is coming through here.

What A Joke
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/19/11
We have always stayed there and everytime we have noticed different management.Kinda made us wonder but we always liked the feel of the rustic cabin motel. This time it was much different.First of all there are dogs running loose everywhere and will attack your car when you pull in.The lady manager was nice, but her apperance was rather hard.Looked like a homeless lady.Kids running loose all over the place. The male manager is a drunk.Showed up before noon and he was wasted. Then they decided to party til who knows what time in the mornig. The male manager was in his truck with his stereo just blareing at a very late hour. Then to top it off they got into a argument and the male drove back and forth and in and out of the motel.Nuts.The coffee maker was filthy.Still had filters and coffee from the people who stayed before. The office smelled like weed bad.I feel so sorry for whoever the owner is because if he knew what was going on he would probably fire them on the spot. Also like to mention the male manager is a complete pervert and could not keep his eyes of our teenage daughter.Unless good t managers get in there we will never go back.Plus the room was way over priced.Ants all over the place. Not lttle ants but huge black ones.Do not give these people your money

NO NOT STAY THERE!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/11/11
There are old places that are historic, rustic, quint, etc... this place is just old! Went to enter my room and the door mat was so wet, think sponge (for the entire stay) that I could not step on it. The landing under is is soft also.I was told that they were still washing a blanket and it would be there in an hour, I arrived at 5:45 pm (room should have been ready).Did not show up until the next afternoon. Has a base board heater. It took all night to get the room to 60 degrees, the thermostat does not work very well. Was a problem because my wet clothes would not dry. The unit has a fire place. Took me a while to figure out, but the damper is broken. So you can not close it (heat will escape) and it partly blocks the chimney. When I tried to light a fire (wood was also not seasoned) smoke filled the room no matter what I did (I have enough experience to know what I am doing), so the unit and all my clothes smelled of smoke. It appears to have knob and tube electrical, see the 1950's screw in fuses. The electrical and chimney issues are a fire hazard. I would not have stayed there with my wife and daughter. The shower is small, the floor is soft in places and it has no fan. so after a shower, even with the door open condensation was on the walls. The first night kids were playing right out the back of my unit. Nice that they were outside playing, but not very relaxing. Then Saturday the neighbors behind the unit was blasting music. The worst experience I have ever had at at motel!

we can't wait to get back to the mountain
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/16/09
My husband made reservations at the mountain air motel and I got really excited about going up to meadows to snowboard for my birthday get away I forgot how nice people are in a small town. the manager was very pleasant and very respectful. It was like wow manners still exsist. She let me know that the room was $80.00 a night and if we needed extra wood today it was already prepaid. $75.00 is actual room rate but for our convience we just say more wood and we get it. I think this is cheap for a fireplace room and I would pay even more. Price is no object when you are cuddled up next to your love one with a real wood burning fireplace. This is real cozy and so romantic. we will be back thank your manager for everything.

Not as cute as the picture
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/10/09
The manager was nice but the fireplace room was overpriced at $80. It was freezing cold because the wall heater and fireplace couldn't keep up, and it wasn't that cold out. The toilet needed cleaning and the grout in the shower made me not want to take a shower.

Never again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/19/09
I was really looking forward to my visit to the area for a search and rescue conference near by. After taking my resurvation by phone, they gave my room to someone else prior to arrival. The room they gave me smelled like cigarettes. The bathroom and kitchen area were not cleaned. The room was not able to accomodate an additional person that also needed to attend this conference. The next day, I left and was charged more that the origional rate for the room. They never gave any printed rates for the rooms, so it seemed that they just charge people what they think they can get away with. This place looks like a good deal on paper, but you will not like it if you are looking for a place where your family will feel safe and clean. Don't stay here.

Not the norm
By John P., 9/1/08
I agree with the other reviews that there is a kind of funky log cabin feel to the place. I feel that we over paid a bit (we had their smallest room), though it was a Labor Day weekend night. The folks that run the place are very friendly. However, the toilet hadn't been cleaned well, and there were some cobwebs hanging around. The carpet was stained, but looked dirtier than it was. A large truck passing on the nearby highway felt like it was driving right through the place. Having said that, we enjoyed our short stay. If you're from out of state, you'll feel like you've been to an unsterilized Oregon... and still have cable TV & WIFI....
