Peshtigo River Campgrounds, Crivitz

We liked the first class facilities. The showers and restrooms were clean and nice. The place is well maintained. The canoes are comfortable and safe. The river is just perfect for canoeing, fishing, and tubing. We had a feeling of serenity in the campground. The owner and his son were efficient and treated us well.

ALL THE BAD REVIEWS ARE CORRECT. THE GOOD REVIEWS ARE FROM THE SEASONAL PEOPLE THAT STAY HERE. THE OWNER IS RUNNING A QUIET RETIREMENT VILLAGE AND TRYING TO OFFER RIVER TUBING AND CAMPING FROM THE SAME LOCATION. IT DOES NOT WORK THIS WAY. SEASONAL CAMPERS YELL AT PEOPLE DRIVING, THEY YELL AT PEOPLE SITTING AROUND A CAMPFIRE AFTER 10:00 PM. THE OWNER IS GRUMPY AND NOT GOOD WITH PEOPLE. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A SECOND HOME FOR THE SUMMER WITH NOTHING TO DO THAN THIS IS THE PLACE.

We just stayed at the Peshtigo River Inn this weekend as guest's for a out of town wedding. If you are looking for a clean, VERY basic room then this is the place for you. The bed was very uncomfortable but for one night we lived with it. I would recomend bringing your own pillows too. If you are used to finer hotel experiances on your travels this is not the place for you. But overall it served its purpose and for $90 dollars you get what you pay for.

We planned a family reunion at the campground to coincide with a wedding. Approximately 40 people camped there because we recommended it. When we showed up to visit them and check to see if all was okay, we were chased down by John - the owner - and treated rudely because we must have gone 10 mph instead of 5 mph when we entered. He then told us we had to pay $5 per person - not even per car each day we wanted to visit family. Since there was four of us - $20 just to stop in and say hi to family. It didn't matter to him that we had directed everyone to make reservations there based on the closeness to the wedding reception and what appeared to be a nice campground. He was really rude and runs the place like a prison - just sitting outside the office waiting to yell at people. Not a pleasant experience - not recommended to anyone.

We booked this campground because as a young child, i remembered how much fun I used to have. I wish I could say the same today. Our party consisted of 2 young adult couples. 2 teachers, 1 xray tech, 1 writer. We are by no means the "partying type." I believe the owner of the campsite did not want a young group of adults staying at his campground. He was rude to us the second we got there. He would not let us out of his sight. He yelled at my friends for not going 5mph(they were going 7mph). Then he accused us of trying to sneak extra people in. They paid upon entering. Then would only allow 1 tent even though we already paid extra money to have the other couple stay(which I have never done anywhere else). When we addressed the issue to him, he made us feel so uncomfortable that we left. He would not refund us anything. Even though we were there for literally there for 5 minutes. In conclusion, we paid 100$ to stay for 5 minutes. The customer service was HORRIBLE. Waste of time and money.

I just want to point out that 90.00 dollars I was charged by John Wocelka on my chargecard was for 2 night stay at a tent campsite at Peshtigo River Campground.

All the other reviews about the rudeness of the owner John Wocelka are true.. my experience is if you pay with MasterCard double check your statement..This guy likes to overcharge people that pay with a charge card..He charged me $90.00 for a 2 night stay..Then argued that I am wrong..Now I have to take the time to call the charge card company to get my money back..By how rude this guy is and how he acts I am guessing I am not the first person he has done this to..

We are on our 3rd season and have no complaints. The sites are large and well maintained. There are lots of activities in close proximity. I would recommend this campground to anyone who is looking for a quiet family oriented vacation or seasonal location.

Great place if you like peace & quiet and want to feel safe to enjoy the beautiful north woods on large sites! We liked it so much after camping one Memorial weekend that we immediately signed up for a seasonal site-been there 8 years now & on our 2nd RV-planning on a 3rd. We've recommended them to other couples, who have returned or even taken a seasonal as well. We've made tons of new friends -the owners included!

If you enjoy staying at a concentration camp the you will enjoy staying at the PESHTIGO RIVER CAMPGROUNG in Crivitz Wisconsin. The owner is the rudest most arrogant individual I have ever encountered. I stopped in to check out the campground and was greeted by the owner John. He hits you with threats of calling the sheriff if you break any of the rules and he is serious. We drove in at about 7 miles an hour and were threatened because there is a 5 mile an hour sign posted. Needless to say that we left as quickly as we arrived because we were not going to give this poor excuse for a human being the opportunity to continue to threaten us. After searching out other review sites we have read other reviews for this campground and have read of their bad experiences. The sad thing about this is that I am a Crivitz property owner and I am embarrassed to know that we have a business operator in our community that gets away with treating the public this way. Take my advise don't waste your time or energy by staying at The PESHTIGO RIVER CAMPGROUNDS.
