Wonderful town, awful motel

Before writing my review, this preface is of critical importance. Please know the town of Faulkton itself is wonderful. A treat to experience and definitely repeat. One immediately feels both senses of permanence and progression - a wide IMMACULATE Main Street, terrific cafes and restaurants, the most beautiful Carousel ever and homes with yards exuding pride of ownership. Flower gardens abound. The residents are exceptionally warm and welcoming. The surrounding countryside with its rolling prairie, farm and ranch lands is heartstoppingly beautiful - the sky seems to go on forever. Faulkton is small town America at its absolute best. A visit is highly recommended!! Thankfully, there is another clean motel on the opposite end of town.
This site asks for specifics, so ......
In sharp contrast to the town, this motel is shockingly filthy!!!!! The carpet in our room was stained beyond description and had obviously not been vacuumed between guests. There were biting bugs in one of the beds. This bed was covered with only a blanket, the other by a thin quilt. There were cobwebs hanging down from underneath the box springs. The bathroom floor was sticky in front of the toilet and sink. The sink fixtures were covered with scum. The towels and stained washcloths were in dire need of a good dose of bleach. The whole room was dusty and inhabited by several species of insects which probably explains the FROG sharing occupancy. THE OWNERS OF THIS MOTEL OWE THE RESIDENTS OF FAULKTON BETTER REPRESENTATION. When confronted with our displeasure they, who themselves live right there and were seen doing the motel laundry, placed the entire blame on the young cleaning staff! Outrageous! If a reader is by now wondering why we did not immediately refuse this room, Faulkton was hosting several major events and this was the only room to be had, booked more than a year in advance, for at least a hundred miles around - an unbiased resounding tribute to the draw of Faulkton.
