I have been coming to Faulkton for years for my business, so I know what it was like before the new owners took over.. and alls I can say is Wow!! They have done so much work to this Motel, it looks great! The rooms are comfortable, nice and clean. You can park right in front of your room, which I like and after a hard days work I can sit right outside my room and have a beer or two. Its very comfortable and relaxing here..The rates are low and It certainly helps that the new owners are really nice. I would recommend this Motel to anyone, as I am forsure going to keep coming back.
I was in Faulkton twice in 2011 to pheasant hunt. The amount of time that I spent in the motel was limited, but it was a great place to come back to after a full day of hunting to relax. The rooms are small, but they were kept up nice and the staff was very polite, accomodating and helpful. I will stay at this motel every year when I am hunting in South Dakota.
I was very satisfied staying at the Westside Motel

It is an older motel, needs a little work, but what can you expect for an older motel and for the price.. Everything was nice and clean and I was very comfortable there, the owners were very helpful and the price of the Motel was very reasonable.. I will definitely go back there the next time I am in Faulkton..
We had tried booking a room for the 4th of July at the Super 8, but it was all booked up. The other choice was the West Side Motel. My grandparents have lived in Faulkton for more than 50 years, so I've been going there my whole life and never once did I want to stay at the West Side Motel. It just doesn't look all that nice from the outside. But, being without other alternatives we did. The gentleman at the counter was polite and since I was travelling with my wife and 2 year old son, he gave us one of his nicer rooms. It was clean and quiet, had a mini-refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave and satellite TV. There was even a plug-in for DSL, but also offer wireless (which I didn't try.) Overall our stay was wonderful, well worth the money. I would recommend this place, or room #1, to anyone.
Before writing my review, this preface is of critical importance. Please know the town of Faulkton itself is wonderful. A treat to experience and definitely repeat. One immediately feels both senses of permanence and progression - a wide IMMACULATE Main Street, terrific cafes and restaurants, the most beautiful Carousel ever and homes with yards exuding pride of ownership. Flower gardens abound. The residents are exceptionally warm and welcoming. The surrounding countryside with its rolling prairie, farm and ranch lands is heartstoppingly beautiful - the sky seems to go on forever. Faulkton is small town America at its absolute best. A visit is highly recommended!! Thankfully, there is another clean motel on the opposite end of town.
This site asks for specifics, so ......
In sharp contrast to the town, this motel is shockingly filthy!!!!! The carpet in our room was stained beyond description and had obviously not been vacuumed between guests. There were biting bugs in one of the beds. This bed was covered with only a blanket, the other by a thin quilt. There were cobwebs hanging down from underneath the box springs. The bathroom floor was sticky in front of the toilet and sink. The sink fixtures were covered with scum. The towels and stained washcloths were in dire need of a good dose of bleach. The whole room was dusty and inhabited by several species of insects which probably explains the FROG sharing occupancy. THE OWNERS OF THIS MOTEL OWE THE RESIDENTS OF FAULKTON BETTER REPRESENTATION. When confronted with our displeasure they, who themselves live right there and were seen doing the motel laundry, placed the entire blame on the young cleaning staff! Outrageous! If a reader is by now wondering why we did not immediately refuse this room, Faulkton was hosting several major events and this was the only room to be had, booked more than a year in advance, for at least a hundred miles around - an unbiased resounding tribute to the draw of Faulkton.
Rustic and not very clean. Spotty wireless Internet available in some areas of the facility. This is an older motel with several small rooms and some 2 room cabins (limited privacy). Owners are very friendly.
Close to new steakhouse with excellent food.
