Thunder Bay Rv Park & Camp, Alpena

I visited Alpena on a road trip in October '05 and was on a very tight budget. I was planning to spend no more than 50 or 60 dollars, and this motel was the only place I could find in my budget. This place is a dump. The rooms are tiny, and the walls are made of cinder blocks. I felt like I was in a jail cell. The good news was that I didn't have to spend much time here. The bathroom was gross. The shower was just like the kind of shower you would find in a college dorm. I wished I would have had flip flops on while I took my shower. Another thing I didn't like was the fact taht this place was hard to find. But based on the map I pulled from Yahoo, it looked like this motel was north of downtown. But it was actually south of downtown. At one point I had to use a pay phone to call them to find out where it was, because I was on US-23 north of downtown. It was on the opposite side of the city. In the morning, I checked out of the motel before 8:00. Nobody was in the office at that hour of the morning, so I thought the best thing to do was to just leave my key in the room. I always feel better when I can actually give the staff my room key in person, but I couldn't. The only thing that was good about the Bay Motel was that the people in the office were friendly. I'll never stay here again.
