Great little rustic getaway.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/1/11
45 second walk to the beach on one of the most beautiful lakes in Michigan. Rooms are clean. Has been a landmark in Beulah for many years. Not for people that need "Contemporary". Don't expect the Ritz... your up north. But if you can handle a clean, older style room at a very reasonable price for being so close Crystal Lake, you will enjoy staying here. Brad, the owner, does a great job of making you feel right at home. Staff are friendly. If you want to rent Jet Skis, they are available. A fire pit and BBQ are located right in the middle of the yard. And it's a short, nice walk into town with some fun little shops. The most beautiful sunsets are seen from right there on the east end of the lake... and they are spectacular. So, if you go with an open mind and enjoy that older cottage kind of feel and appreciate a good deal for a good location, then give the Pine Knot a try.

Here's the real deal...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/5/11
My first stay at this place was in 1991. I have since stayed there two more times, the last being just this past holiday weekend. The rooms are outdated and kind of musty and/or smoky smelling, but overall it is a fine place to stay. It is northern Michigan for goodness sakes!! You don't go up north to stay at the Ritz. Being up north is all about the woods, beaches, not doing your hair, no makeup, and drinking a beer around the campfire. If you are looking for a five star hotel, then don't go up north at all. The Pine Knot is quite charming and it is not a junkyard. The owner lives on the property with his very lovely and friendly sons, so you might see a four wheeler or bike sitting out but it is definitely not junky. In-fact, the grounds of this place is what makes it so charming. To make a long story short, the rooms are like that of an old log cabin out in the woods. If you don't mind that, then you won't mind The Pine Knot.

We think the owner is unethical
It's always a challenge to make last minute Fourth of July plans in northern Michigan. Happily, we made reservations for one night at Pine Knot Resort for July 2. When we arrived after a long day at the beach, we were told we didn't have reservations. After further inquiry, the owner told us our reservation was for July 3. Fine. A mix up, we guessed. He apologized and offered us a free night stay with a 2 day booking. We asked for our credit card not to be charged and drove home. Later that weekend, my husband noticed a voicemail sent July 2 (the night we originally booked) from Bradley of Pine Knot wondering when we were going to show up to check in. Were arrived at around 11:30pm, but since we put a card on the reservation we thought we were ok. Not sure why the owner had to lie about our reservation. If they gave our room away for arriving too late, just tell us. Based on previous review and the appearance when we arrive, we are relieved we didn't stay at Pine Knot Resort. Now we need to check our bank to make sure our credit card wasn't charged.

Not bad
By Rachael, 8/16/10
The experience here was a good time for my family and I we had no issues our rooms were cleaned we had a nice night doing s'mores in his yard the people we cam into contact with that were also stay were fun to talk to at night it is about a ten min drive to Frankford which is beautiful the beach that this hotel pays for so that we can use it was nice and clean I have a 2 year old daughter and she enjoyed her self very much the best thing was that we were not facing a main road the price and the time were well spent we had no issues with the owner Brad he built us a fire every night and his son was very kind to my daughter and the other guest that were staying here as well. If you plan on staying and locking your self in a room than this is not a place for you ! if you come to be able to go do things and enjoy your stay than it it he is reasonable with price and you are pretty close to just about anything

One fo the worst ever
By Votive, 8/8/10
Warning. One of the worst places you will find. The owner is extremely rude and threatening, and his lot looks like a junkyard. The rooms are overpriced and filthy. The "beach" is a tiny piece of sand at the end of a road - does not even touch the property. If that isn't enough, his son does nothing but harass the tenants and their children. Absolutely horrible.

Tentative Reservation? Don't do it!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/7/10
I stayed here several years ago and liked it, so I phoned and made a tentative reservation, using my credit card to hold it. A few days later, my plans had changed, so I called (had to leaave a mesage because he never answered the phone) and cancelled the reservation. Later a charge appeared on my charge card for the amount of the rent on the room, where I NEVER STAYED. I called this place again, finally got hold of him on his cell phone, explained the problem, he said he was away from the office, but would take care of it when he returned, and call me back. HE NEVER DID! I have called several times - he never answers the phone and has never called back. DO NOT MAKE A TENTATIVE RESERVATION HERE. STAY AWAY!

Dirt Bag Motel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/13/10
This motel is a run down creep pit. And the owner is not a nice man at all. If you make a reservation, beware. He does NOT answer the motel telephone so that you can cancel. And it does NOT have an answering machine. I booked someone else and drove by this motel to make sure I didn't get charged because he refused to answer. There was a note on the door with my name telling me my key was on the OUTDOOR table. Three days later I drove by and the note was still there. Obviously he hadn't even bothered to open his doors all that time. There is trash every where and is in bad need of repair. Today I got the added bonus of finding he charged my card for not cancelling my reservation. My advice....RUN!!!!

Good Times, Good Company
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/21/10
If You are a Traverse City yuppie, stay home. This place is for down to earth people who like to B.S around the campfire with Brad the owner and tell campfire stories. Location is great and the costs are relatively cheap compared to other resorts. Rooms are clean and Brad has almost anything to offer to make your trip enjoyable, boats, bikes, golf carts you name it. See you soon Brad.

Don't do it!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/4/10
Only stay here if you like low-class places! This is NOT a resort. It is ugly, dark, and creepy. We were totally disappointed. Do not book unless you have seen it and it is OK with you!
