North Star Resort, Mio

We stayed here because it was the only place in MIo with a vacancy during the ball tournaments at Northwoods. We arrived and the lady in the office was DRUNK! I could spell the alcohol on her breath as she stumbled all over the place. They were having a cookout on the front porch of the office. We had to wait for our room while they went and cleaned it. The room was horrible! The decor was hidious. The was bathroom filthy, toilet completly rusted, cracks around the floor look like they were filled with black mold. Electrical was OLD and a safetly hazard, definately not up to code! The sheets were filthy with black curly hair on 3 of the 4 pillow cases. They had to bring the towels after they were done drying and they were stained and paper thin. The comforters looked like they just pulled them out of a dumpster. We decided to go to northwoods to get drunk just to be able to sleep there, which helped! We still slept in all of our clothes so that our bodies wouldn't touch anything. When we got up in the morning there were beer cans all over the front porch of the main cabins and a pair of dirty underwear on the bench in front of our room. The sign by the road was was missing the RTH spelling NO STAR and that's exactly what I rate it!!

Cabins were disgusting. I think the mattresses, curtains, & rugs are the originals. Musty, dusty, dingy, dirty. Actually slept in my car rather than sleeping on the mattresses next to the curtains. Do not recommend. Will never go back.

this place is terrible! Dirty, loud, unkept. The owners are nice but in the wrong business. We paid $70 for a no bedroom cabin that was dirty , the bed was terrible, and it was a duplex where we could hear everything that was going on in the other part of the duplex, including vomiting all night from the college students staying there. Dishes were nasty, bathroom was nasty! I have stayed at Rainbow resort ($50 for no bedroom cabin) it was awesome) and have stayed at Hinchmans, in a one bedroom cabin, also awesome $60. Dont waste your money at North Star!

Was recently working in the Mio area and stayed in one of the cabins. Was very pleased with my stay. While it wasnt the Hilton it was very comfortable and homie. Very freindly service, and great prices. Would stay again. What more to say!

This is a great place for the guys to stay at for a ATV trip,The trailhead is 5 minutes away for Bull Gap.The service is great and the Owners are cool.There are Fireplaces in every room and they supply the wood,Also there is Cable,I love it !! Dion

My husband and I have stayed at the North Star 2ce since the new owners have taken over. Boy! What an improvement!!! The owners Karen & Steve, are very friendly people, and made sure we had all the comforts of home. They have done, and are still making, improvements. What a difference! We definately will stay there everytime we visit Mio, for canoeing or snowmobiling, being they are open all year long. Not like the previous owner, who closed down during the snow season, and didnt take care of the rooms,or grounds, it wasnt a freindly inviroment in the past. Now I would recomend it too everyone I know that goes North!
