Motel Nomad, Potsdam

This place is now called Scottish Inns. There was a sign on the door indicating it was a non-smoking room, but as soon as we opened the door we were hit with the stench of stale cigarette smoke. Booked the room for 3 people, but there were only 2 tiny bath towels. There was a shelf missing over the bathroom sink, and a drawer missing from the dresser. Tiny, tiny shower, and the knob almost came off in my hand when I turned it on; not to mention that the hot water occasionally disappeared during my extremely brief shower. We ended up throwing all our clothes in the laundry when we got home, even if we hadn't worn them, because they'd absorbed the stink. "Continental breakfast" consisted of coffee and pre-packaged pastries. If there was juice or milk available, there was no sign. The ONLY positive was that the beds were very comfortable.

The Nomad Motel has made alot of improvements and they are continuing to bring the motel up to date, I was concerned on what we would find when we got there by other reviews and I was pleasantly surprised to find a clean room with new carpet and bedding, newly painted walls and a new bathroom, The rooms were quite comfortable and the owner was very friendly. There is still room for improvement, like a newer tv and microwave but it still was a nice stay. I would definetley stay there again.

I have been a regular customer at Nomad from past 2 years. I have had my worst experience this year on my two visits.The manager was not at all courteous and my room was filthy. I think Nomad has changed ownership coz I dont see the old owner VJ a great guy. Not comming back!!

I think I was there when this guy was there that left the two bad reviews in June. (there from the same guy you can tell he says sleep in your car both times) I stayed at the NOMAD for A week in June I also seen the guy behind the counter looking shaby, and talked to him for a bit real nice guy by the way.He said he and a maid were the only ones that were working there at the time.and he was doing lots of work on the place new water pump pluming carpet etc & thats why he was dressed the way he was...that night at about ten this guy that was staying in the round building was yelling at the guy behind the counter saying he wanted his money back and wanted to stay for free he said he called and wanted a room in the other building or somthing like that the guy behind the counter said he had to call the owner,well this guy lost it and said he couldent beleive he was waiting ten minutes for the guy behind the counter to get off the phone with his boss!!! ...the guy was yelling about a refund and how he was going to leave bad reviews online and calling the police.the counter guy after being yelled at for ten minutes said iam sorry i cant acomadate you sr call the police then,and walked away from him. I went and talked to the guy at the counter,who looked frusterated after this irate man went back to his room, he told me he had been working all day i told him you cant make everyone happy all the time.my dad had just died and thats why i was in town that week. we sat in front of the motel that night and talked for hours,they have a great place to sit there by the way, a nice big front yard with picknic tables. last week i went back to the NOMAD I was in town visting family and stayed there he did not work there any more but the place looked great with a great new staff!!! he did a verry good job and I bet he is missed.I was just going to leave a review but when i read those other comments i couldnt help myself well now that iam done writeing this book,I have to say i have stayed at this motel for years and never had one bad thing happen there. all ways a good stay.... I read all the other reviews and look like people were not too happy about the service received in june. I recently visited potsdam to drop off my daughter to clarkson university. The fronk desk manager was really helpful. she gave us directions to the town and local attractions. She was very nice and friendly. I really had good experience with the motel and definetly go back on parents weekends

I have been a regular customer of NOMAD from years. If you are looking for a place to relax this is your motel of choice. Ask for the rooms in the seperate building. Those are one of the finest rooms. Good luck to the owners VJ and Vi.

I am from Ontario, Canada and happened to stop by the motel with my biker buddies. They have one of the best suites I have ever seen. The owners are great people and I would definitely visit Nomad again.

I was visiting Clarkson as new student for the first time and decided to stay at Nomad with my family. The motel has a homely enviornment and the rooms in their seperate building are just great.Secondly it is the closest motel to Clarkson and SUNY Potsdam. Good luck to the owners VJ and Vi.

I live in Florida and everyyear I come to potsdam for a vacation and stay at Nomad. I would suggest this place to everybody.Quiet atmosphere, great rooms and friendly staff.
