A Very Welcome Respite

No, it's not the newest; and no, it's not classy; and no, it's not pretentious. It is neat, clean, comfortable, blessed with a lovely view of the town, filled with fresh air, and in possession of the most welcoming motel owner it has been my pleasure to meet.
Arriving unexpectedly one summer afternoon, I inquired of a room. 'Yes, Unit 1 was available, but it would take 15 minutes to prepare.' The lady of the house led me to her front porch bench, brought me a glass of cold lemonade, and, because I was a single man travelling alone, sent her 16 year old son out to sit with me and talk football while I waited.
I have since stayed there 3 times and ever will when travelling through central Oregon.
