Maples Motel, Wisconsin Rapids

After reading all of the negative reviews here, I felt compelled to write a review of my own. I, along with a very good friend, have stayed at this motel for 3-4 nights each stay each and every year for over 30 consecutive years. We're fishermen who like to be up there for what's called "Nekoosa Walleye Days." The owner, Greg has been nothing but helpful and friendly each and every visit. He isn't an owner that "takes the money and runs" either. There is always an ongoing effort to update and in some cases remodel the rooms. For those that have stayed there over the years, you know what I'm talking about. I can count on one hand in the 30+ years we've stayed there that we've had to ask the owner for something; Usually something really minor like an extra plate or pan to cook and eat with. The rooms have ALWAYS been clean and Greg has ALWAYS been nothing but helpful in resolving the minor things I have mentioned. WE have numerous alternatives for lodging in Rapids, but we will always stay with Greg and the "Maples." I give "The Maples" two big thumbs up!! Rex R Rohrs Phelps, WI

The rooms were pretty clean, except under the beds. Sure needs new curtains, and chairs, and better and clean light fixtures. The maids are nice the heavier one always trys her best to get you what you need. He needs better quilts, and fitted sheets would be nice, it always fell off, needs pillow protectors as well as mattress protectors. The owner should put more money in his rooms and less outside. We will try this place again.

Great motel to stay and enjoy the things to do around that area.For me its fishing for the wife its relaxing and shopping.The motel offers a clean heated pool,gas barbeque grills,and acemented fire pit area.The staff are great and will leave extra towels and stuff if you ask.The owner and operater is named greg and is always willing to make your stay pleasant.The only down side is if your expecting new and pristine rooms with mints on the pillows your out of luck!The rooms are clean,beds comfortable,and stove and fridge like new but bathrooms and other furniture older.We like it and so do the friends we have sent up there for the last five years.So myself I say go you will have a good time!

The location is great.The owner is very helpful and easy going.You have free use of the pool,barbeque grill and fire pit on a cement patio.(which we took use of a lot).The bad side is a lot of working people staying there on week days,but there pretty qeiet and dont use the pool and pit.Also the chairs and furniture is older and a little worn,but the beds are nice,the rooms are clean and the staff is great.

Where to start owner will be best friend till he get's your money, after words if you complain he won't do anything nor care, went up there tonight to complain and SHOW the cockroaches told us he just bomb the place two weeks ago but would call someone and we had to leave for night but he didn't have any rooms he refused to refund us and said he was full to put in another room. When went up to ask about a discount his excat words where "take your discount and shove it up your ass" also said "if you can find something cheeper then leave" NO JOKE. This is just complaints about owner his name is GREG ALLEN. Then there is the problems with the rooms no hot water for two 6 mins showers, dirty dishes, cockroaches, old, moldy bathroom, broken curtians, no remote, the beds omg hope you like back ace even the bed had a a board under matress. Mades don't clean worth crap uses puzzels as pictures for his walls that ppl pick peices off, the phone I wouln't recomend using bring your own sheets and pills as hair everywhere, the chairs don't sit in they stink and completly stained. We have complained about ppl partying at 3am he refuses to do anything. It's a major party place and lots of drugs going here. There is no one here after 7-9pm they come and go when they want. I have pictures and more info if anyone is intrested. LIke I said becarefull he won't give money back or nothing, he will be a very nice guy till he get's your money after that he is a total jerk. Also have had housekeepers not even knock and just walk in TWICE complained he said we didn't hear them knock, but yet we where up watching tv. Stay away it might be good prices, just remember you get what you pay for. no mattress or pillow case protecters. stained floors, broken nobs on heater and air some lights don't work, dresser drower is broke. big hole in bathroom, the cauk around tub is all pulled up the shower curtian is all stained and has hole in it, we had to buy our own cleaning stuff and clean the place the floors they don't mop and made our socks with in 3 hours pitch black.... UPDATE5-6-11 Greg the owner called telling us the bug man would be here tomm and offred us a diffrent room but did not have a kitchen, we asked what we where sopose to do with all our frozen food all our frig food he told us not his problem and we said we are not gonna lose all this food with no way to buy any new stuff and he won't reimbuse us for the lost food. SO we told him no we whern't gonna move as we would be losing more money on paying for a room with a kitchen to go to a room with no kitchen to losing food, he then told us "well don't complain about the damm cockroaches then" and hung up on us. SO since we are stuck here till the 26th there isn't anything I can do, we don't wanna cause troubles and get kicked out with no where to go and no money and be out all that money we paid for a a kitchen room. SO we are just gonna stick it out. UGH Just please no one go to Maples Motel in Wisconsin rapids, wi It's across from Walmart and Kwik Trip and besides sports man's pub, right off griffth ave. UPDATE: 5-8-11 Called us early this morning telling us that the reason we have roaches is cause we don't let the maids come in and clean, we told him that we clean ourself and have all the chemicals to prove it. He didn't belive us. Tried to ask him what the reason was that he has to bomb it two weeks BEFORE we moved in. He would't answer us. I am so mad he is blaming us for his roaches. We do our dishes everyday our room is clean. We clean our room every week. We don't allow his maids to come in cause we don't trust them and they don't clean worth crap...

I had a wonderful weekend staying at this motel, very neat. All the rooms were remodeled, Had a large flat screen TV, DVD player, full size kitchen with everything you need in it!!! I will most defentally go again!!!!

Allowed my pet to stay with me which is why I chose this hotel. Good price. Only complaint was the lack of hot water for shower. First person was good and then I had showered in freezing water.

My friend and I will definitely be going back! The guy at the desk was extremely nice and helpful in every way. We didn't arrive until very late, but he made sure we were able to get in the room and saved the whole "checking in" for the next morning. That was a huge help since we had just driven for over 12 hours and wanted nothing but sleep. The location is good. Wal*Mart is right across the street and you are close to all sorts of locations where one can relax and enjoy themselves. The room was very nice, though a little dusty. Only the extremely picky will find fault with this place. I can't wait to go back!
