Silver Surf Motel, Yachats

We stayed here toward the end of our honeymoon ini October 2007. I decided to remake the bed because the covers would have only come to our waists. When I threw back the top sheet there was a long brown hair in the bed. NOT OURS! More checking revealed sand in the bed. I called the front desk and said that if she would bring me some clean sheets I would make the bed. She came with the sheets but appeared to be mad at me for complaining. The tub fixtures had black goo around them. We will NOT stay there again!

Our stay began when we entered the office to check in, and were greeted by a cat patrolling the counter. First red flag. We rented one of the two room cottages, thankfully for one night only. The flooring was so stained you couldn't tell what color it once was. The furniture in the living area was ancient, the upolstery was ripped and torn on one of the couches, and the other looked like it needed a heavy duty steam cleaning. The blinds on the windows were covered in dust. The coffee came wrapped in a filter in a ziploc bag (from the front desk, so I know that this wasn't a leftover from the previous guests). Mold in the shower stall, and towels so ancient I'm surprised they still hold together. The location is fantastic, however I don't think there have been any updates made to this property since it was built (and my guess is that this place was built in the 60's, early 70's). With some major renovations/updates, this place would be a jewel. We would not stay here again.

Our family truly enjoyed the comforts of our room at the Silver Surf all the way from convenient cooking at our leisure, to big fluffy bathroom towels. We especially like the easy access stairs to the big, beautiful sandy beach. Happy memories of our stay here keep us returning again and again. The warm hospitality of the Silver Surf staff remind us why we love Yachats so much, it's genuine.

A run-down, ragged place with a gorgeous oceanfront view that needs major cleaning, renovations and repairs. The thermostat didn't work in our room and practically baked us during the night, rug was stained and dirty, jacuzzi and pool were functional but badly needed paint and cleaning. The furniture was covered with so much grungy pet hair that we ended-up covering the couch with a sheet before putting anything down on it.

Our stay is always great! It begins with the friendly office staff and continues with the warm and cozy rooms. Relaxing in the indoor pool and hot tub are always what we look forward to after a long day of beachcombing, yard sales, and exploring. This is the most pet friendly place I have ever stayed. Our dogs love it here also!
