Great place to stay!
By Lori, 11/04/08
We stayed a week at Pine Rest Cabins in one of the small cabins. The cabin was just right, and the location was perfect: close to Mt.Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Wind Cave and Jewel Cave, and not too far of a drive to Rapid City, Deadwood, and even the Badlands and Devils Tower. We went in the off-season, so the price was very reasonable. The owners were friendly and helpful, and we loved their dog! The traffic noise was a little loud and the wi-fi service was very spotty--it dropped off a LOT, which was a little frustrating when I was trying to upload pictures from the trip. But otherwise, it was perfect: kitchen with small fridge, microwave, four-burner stove, stocked with all utensils and dishes; TV/VCR/DVD and even movies in the room. I don't know when I'll be going back to South Dakota, but I would definitely stay at Pine Rest Cabins again.

Centrally located for tourist attractions.
By Zeb, 09/11/08
My husband & I went here for our anniversary and stayed for 2 nights. The cabins were very easy to find as they were located right off the main highway into Hill City. The downside is that they were RIGHT off the highway, (like 25 yards off the highway), which resulted in traffic noise at night. If you're looking for some super-secluded cabin area-this isn't it. The view across the road would have been spectacular had it not been blocked by the resort/cabin area across the street. The cabin we stayed in was very adequate. It was clean but needed updated. The linoleum in the bathroom was coming up and the floor and kitchen and dining room was uneven. All of our towels smelled a litle sour. The futon in the living room/kitchenette was hard to get comfortable on. On the plus side, the beds were comfortable, the place was clean, easy access to all the tourist attractions in the Hill City/Keystone area, and Jan and Steve were very nice and extremely accomodating. We enjoyed the hot tub as we were the only one's using it-however, should this place have had more people staying at it the hot tub/sauna area could have been packed. The hot tub/sauna area closes at 9:30 which is probably a little early for adults-especially if you want to take in attractions all day. The price for our stay ($145 night/for 2 nights) was fairly reasonable although maybe a little steep when all things were considered. We would definitely reccomend this place to our friends, although next time we will probably look for something more secluded like the Sylvan Lake area.

Charming stay at Pine Rest Cabins
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/28/08
We just returned from a short trip out to the Black Hills of South Dakota & stayed 3 nights at Pine Rest Cabins, just one mile south of Hill City, SD. My daughter & I found our cabin to be just what we were looking for: a little rustic, but with everything we needed: pots, pans, coffeemaker, fan, utensils, fridge, stove, & microwave & a shower w/hot/cold running water. We were able to save money on meals by cooking on our own or just having breakfast at the cabin. The cabin was very clean & comfortable. You don't need air-conditioning at night, so you can sleep with the windows open (they have screens) & wake up to the beautiful pine-scented air. Our cabin was ideally situated right off Highway 16 for what we wanted to do in the Hills. The atmosphere is very relaxed; Uver, the owners' dog, visited us several times, which made things feel like home. We hope to enjoy another stay at Pine Rest Cabins!

We loved the cabin.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/03/07
First time staying in a cabin and were pleasantly surprised. They have everything furnished including kitchen sink, wi-fi and cable TV, yet still feel like you are in a little cabin in the woods. Self service towel window a little unique. Sweet spa with sauna and hot tub. Friendly family. Very clean. Great location, went to Mt. Rushmore twice, Crazy Horse was awesome, good shopping and food in Hill City only a mile away. Will be back.

A great place to stay in the Black Hills
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/31/06
We had a great time, the cabin was very clean and had everything we needed, beds were comfortable and the location perfect for our daily trips. We had three days and planned to visit Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse and Wind Cave. Found out there's more to see and do than we expected. Next time we'll plan at least 5 days and hike Harney Peak, spend more time in Custer State Park, take in a play at the Black Hills Playhouse and maybe take a day trip over to Devils Tower. Jan and Steve were very friendly and willing to share information about the local attractions and where to go. The neat thing was we could do it all from here and not have to pack and unpack all the time. It was so nice to have breakfast in the cabin and coffee on the front porch and then have a place to come home to at the end of the day. We'll be back, we loved the woodsy atmosphere of the cabins with the convenience and comforts we're used to. Couldn't believe they even had wireless internet and cable TV!

So easy to get to all of the Black Hills attractions
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/01/06
The rustic outdoorsy charm of a cabin combined with modern comforts like free wireless internet, cable TV, a hot tub make this place a great place to call home while you see the sights and enjoy the natural surroundings of the Black Hills National Forest. Affordable, clean, comfortable and easy to find.
