New Building a Fantaastic Addition!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/20/09
The "Old World Charm" of the older buildings can be a bit trying unless you love that bed & breakfast, antique type feelling. Howver, the new building that opened last year is fantastic. We stayed in a deluxe room and our friends rented a 2 bedroom condo. Clean, modern, full kitchens and beautiful porches. Food annd service was great!

Find a better place!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/14/08
This was a bad experience from the start. When I booked this place (because the Osthoff was booked) I booked what I thought was two rooms with a double bed and an adjoining bathroom. I had even called the day before to confirm we would have 2 double beds. When we got there it was a room with a double and a twin. That was not ok as we had 2 couples. Plus, it was one room and we were sharing a bathroom with ANOTHER person. The place was very old and we felt it was something out of the Twilight Zone. As we sat there the other person showered and we could hear everything!! The locks are not locks, just a hook in a hole. My husband complained and we were moved over to the condos, which were nice, but had not been cleaned for over a month. The toilet had mold in it and the flowers were wilted and the petals had fallen to the coffee table below. The service was not great. At one point we asked for more towels (in the morning at the time we were showering) and told that she would get to that in a while. "So, in five minutes?" was our response. She unhappily agreed. The next day we needed an iron as our appeared to be missing. Since she couldn't find one she told us to keep looking because every room should have one. We looked in all closets and there was not one. She had to be told how to do her job to knock on doors and find someone who had one. The only good thing was that I paid up front, so when they moved us to the nicer condos, I didn't pay more. I must say, the original price was WAY more than it was worth!

Poor service and no food.
By Deibiddo, 09/05/08
They just don't seem to care. I'm used to hotels that actually give the appearance that they care about their guests and arrived here from a very pleasant visit at a Marriott. Siebkens Resort barely welcomed me and invited me to pay the bill before I'd even seen my room. Although, when I made my reservation, I'd asked on the phone if breakfast was included and was assured that it was when I arrived I was curtly told "no breakfasts after Labor Day". And they refused to make a downward adjustment in my room rate. My room was in the new condo section and the smell of new carpeting was pungent; the shower was constantly on even when all I wanted was to run water for the bath and the light over the bath didn't work. Is anyone checking on these things? Seems not! No wonder the two hotels either side of Siebkens were fully booked. Family run. Better a good chain should run it.

New condos - shiny, not functional
By JoelS, 08/25/08
Our family of 4 stayed at a new Siebkens condo - 3 bedrooms/2 bath. In short, this isn't a good set-up for families. They designed a very pretty, very urban-chic condo. But, there are lots of problems. Some are due to the fact that they clearly booked reservations before the condos were ready. We didn't even have electricity in one of our rooms when we got there, and they needed to call the electrician to fix it the next day. (And, the $100 off the final tab seemed woefully inadequate for the annoyance.) If you take reservations, you should not have lots of bare bulbs w/o shades around the place. And, how about some shelves in the showers to put soap and shampoo? One member of our party who recently had back surgery can't bend over to the ground too easily. Other problems seem more permanent, and quite strange. - A double-bed in the master bedroom? There was plenty of room for at least a queen... - One bedroom with frosted glass doors that adjoins the main room? (The light from the main room is always visible in that bedroom, making sleeping a bit of a challenge with early risers or night owls.) - Power switches that turn off the electicity in the entire condo? (We had to reset clocks about 20 times over the weekend.) - "Family" condos that face a bar that plays loud music until about 1 am? - Limited and uncomfortable main-room seating? (And, with the TV over the fireplace, sitting on the floor to watch TV is near impossible.) Overall, the experience was fine. But, you should consider this place if you like the new-construction, fancy-appliances sort of condo. If you have smaller kids or want a comfy place to relax at the end of the day at the lake, this ain't it.

Great character!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/07/07
Siebkens has always had wonderful food, romantic rooms and a great location. I'm so glad it continues to be a family-run business, as I get tired of the sameness of corporate hotels. I much prefer staying at places with character!

not much
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/27/07
stayed in room 8 for June Sprints. wallpaper peeling, railing to second floor loose and wobbly, shower head partially clogged, 12 inch tv. Continental breakfast was cold cereal, fruit, yogurt, milk and coffee, no bread or pastry. Famed race track bar was short shotting in comparison to rest of local drinking places. Rooms were small but OK if you only wanted to sleep there. By definition an old fashioned resort. Prices were high for value received. Only two good things, Close to track and a n above average dining room. give the dining room a 2 and a half star rating. If you go there order the cheese plate appetizer for diner to go and eat it for breakfast.
