Wayfarer Motel, Schroon Lake

The owners seem genuinely nice...but this place was run-down and kind of dirty. It's also a little too far out of town for our taste, since we're working on a camp north of Schroon. We stay at the Maple Leaf now and are very happy with it. Can't recommend this one.

When we arrived our keys were taped to the door because the personel was out. We chose not stay there because the room was dirty, stained and broken.

We enjoy the Adirondack mountains and we love the ambiance that goes along with it. If you are expecting a first class hotel like the Hilton the small family run Adirondack motels are not for you. The people at the Wayfarer are wonderful people, will do whatever they can for their guests, and are always friendly. The review above has me baffled. If there was such a problem, why not let the owners know so they can correct them? I found that the rooms were clean, and enjoyable and that the Adirondacky smell is in ALL the smaller motels in the whole Adirondack region. Most small establishments can't afford the big fluffy fine quality towels that the Hilton family can. All I smelled in the towels was Downey...lol..Fine place. Some people just expect too much!
