Centrally located - important safety issues
+1 for having the Root TV channel for all Oregon Duck games..I liked that. I liked the the weekly rate. I also liked the speedy and free wi-fi. I was getting 6m/1M not too bad.
The room was clean but in need of some important safety repairs. The wall switch at the doorway had no protective switch plate on it and the bottom half was corroded and broken. There are exposed 120v electrical connections. An electrical shock (possibly deadly) and a wrongful death lawsuit waiting to happen. Shower contrrol handle fell off in my hand first time I used it..and is still off..it works sometimes but you can easily get scalded if not careful as I have more than once. Mgmt told me "it's a big job to fix" so it never got fixed - 7days later no change..The freezer compartment in the mini-fridge is covered in frost 3" thick and my ice cream sandwiches turned to mush while "in the freezer" overnight. The telephone is intermittent and one has to fiddle with the old hard yellowed wire for a dial tone..not to mention missing incoming calls since the wire is not reliable incoming calls just hear an unanswered ring..while I hear nothing in my room. Same for cable TV reception..very poor and it gets worse if you pivot the TV on it's stand..and old hard intermittent cable louses up the TV. The TV wall mount is loose and wobbly from the wall and missing some mounting screws. It seems it's about ready to fall off the wall. Shower curatin rod is buckled and broken in the middle in a 'V" shape so that one has to fuss with it too to get the curtain to open and close correcty. No ice bucket in the room. This room was very dark and dreary with only 2 smallish table lamps with very dim energy saving 18W (eighteen watt) 'bulbs'. Total of 36 watts of lighting for an entire living space. A joke.. and a another annoyance. No overhead lighting. It was hard to do office work when I couldn't see well. Forget writing an old fashioned letter with pen and paper..or just try to read a book without being next to the tiny and dim 18W bulb. So annoying. All these matters could be resolved (maybe except the shower handle) in a total of 30 mins time. I called maintenance about issues and they seemed annoyed at the intrusion..excuse me..I'm the paying guest here. I gave move-out notice yesterday and was asked if anyone bothered me..no it was fine, none of the guests disturbed me..but the room never got fixed.. it could be a killer.
Relax INN in Cottage Grove, Oregon should get these public safety issues resolved pronto..electric shock hazards to guests and scalding hot showers that cannot be controlled are violations of code in Cottage Grove,Oregon so I've learned. If a child (or anyone) accidentally pokes his or her hand into that unprotected light switch and is killed. That will be a lot worse than this cautionary report now..PLEASE fix that stuff before someone is killed or burned. +1 star on Value but it deserves -99...because it is UNSAFE and generally rundown.
