Completely objective review by Matt K.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/23/11
I too travel for business. I found this motel to be convieniant and clean. The new owner Karen is an absolute pleasure to deal with, as is the rest of her family. They are constantly working on the property making sure things are up to snuff. Wi Fi was a snap! Anyone who would dare give a bad review is either rediculously anal, or just being an ass. Perfectly nice 50's retro motel with very nice updates! Fabulous price point bang for your $!!!!! Thanks again Karen for the great accomadations and service!!! Sincerely, Matt K

Pleased with this choice!
By Todd, 5/22/11
I am writing this review at the end of my second week staying at this motel. I travel in my work and being happy with where I stay is very important to me. I need a clean room, a refrigerator, and a microwave. I need a quiet and pleasant environment, and, because I am traveling for work, not pleasure, I need a good value. I found all of these at the Maple Leaf Inn in Plymouth, WI. Upon arrival I asked to see the room first and I was shown a single queen room. It was smaller, but not claustrophobic. It had all of the above amenities and was clean. I asked what daily services I could expect and was told, like with most weekly rates for family owned motels, that they would completely service the room once a week but if I needed anything done in the mean time "just ask and we will take care of it". I did once call and ask that my room be serviced early. There was no hesitation on the owners part to agree and when I returned to my room that evening it was clean and I could still smell the bleach used to clean the bathroom. Through out my stay I watched as the owners worked every day to improve the property. The assembled brand new picnic tables, lounge chairs, there are outside grills available for guest use, and today I am watching as they assemble a Gazebo for guest use. They are currently renovating two of the 12 rooms in this motel. They keep the large lot cut and trimmed. These are non-smoking rooms and the owners make it very clear that guests are not allowed to smoke in the rooms. I am a smoker and appreciated the fact that all rooms have outside access and it was no trouble to step outside and smoke. There was a chair provided and a sand filled ash container which they clean frequently. I enjoyed complete privacy and the few times I did interact with the owners they were very friendly and accommodating. My 15 night stay was very affordable and pleasant. There is no doubt that if I return to Plymouth I will stay at this motel again.

Owner Fights Back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/26/11
Dear Don Anthony Joe. You stayed at my motel for over a month. You partook of my hospitality, told me you enjoyed being here, told me how quiet it was, and how much you appreciated the free WI-FI. The only time you complained was when we were having problems with the WI-FI. When you couldn't pay your bill, I allowed you to stay over the holidays because I felt guilty asking you to leave at Christmas. When you couldn't come up with the money to pay, I offered to drive you to the Salvation Army. Instead you left in the middle of the night. You trashed the room, and now you are trying to trash the reputation of the motel. I won't even begin to defend myself against your accusations because nothing you said was true. I know you have nothing better to do, but don't spend your time taking pot shots at people who were nothing but kind to you. Sincerely, Maple Leaf Motel .

Handy place to stay for the races
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/18/09
Our rooms had been partialy remodled since the first stay. The rooms and showers were just what we needed after a day at the track.

hotel???
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/4/07
We read the reviews but thought "it couldn't be all that bad"...It was and more. The room we got was remodeled so it wasn't too bad except the sink was only attached to the paneling so don't lean on it. The bathroom door lock was installed backwards with the lock on the outside. My brother’s room had a badly stained carpet and the screens on the door were torn. The bathroom had rust and some other kind of stains on the shower walls. When they took a shower the water ran under the wall and into the bedroom, not onto the bathroom floor and under the door but through the wall. The room my mom and sister had was the topper. The carpet was water soaked and moldy and smelled really bad. They had to wear their shoes all the time and use air freshener. The electrical plug-in fell right out of the wall. The fridge, microwave and coffee pot in our room was plugged into a multi plug into a two plug outlet (looked like a fire waiting to happen). The ceiling lights were plugged into an extension hung on the wall along with the TV. cords. The TVs was hung right by the door entrances so if you weren't watching you'd run face first into them. We complained about the moldy wet carpet in my moms room and the lady said that she thought that they done that. They gave them another room (didn't look much better but the carpet was dry). The next day the cleaning lady threw out all of my moms knitting supplies. They looked like they could care less about their mistake as they dug it out of the dumpster. If you see the need to stay at the Maple Leaf Inn ask for room 103-105 (these rooms have been remodeled). Also let the water run a bit in the sink so the sulfur smell and taste gets better. The plus side is the beds in room 104 are really comfortable the rooms are really quiet and the lock on the bathroom door in room 104 is now fixed because we fixed it ourselves.

We were waiting for the Cockroaches...
By Laura S, 6/28/06
We were staying in Plymouth, Wisconsin for a horse show for a few day and thought we really didn't need a fancy hotel with a pool etc, etc, until we walked in room 15 of the Maple Leaf Motel. First and foremost, the smell was unbearable; a mix of ciggerettes, mold (it was literally growing up the wall) and mildue. When I took off my shoes and walked across the carpet, my socks became soaking wet. We ended up running to a near-by Walmart and purchasing some air-fresheners and scented candles, which helped quite a bit, but didn't seem to make the night go by any quicker. The next morning, the candle (which you shouldn't leave burning for then 4 hours) had 3 dead bugs in the wax. We didn't take showers/brush our teeth because the water had a discusting oder. Thankfully, there was a room availble at a nearby hotel and our money was refunded (except for the one night we were there.) It was gross.
