Boulders Lakefront Motel, Holderness

The motel rooms, though rustic, were much nicer than pictured. Very, very friendly people and the rooms are very clean. Beautiful view from the screened porch. We would definately stay here again.

We went for a day and stayed for three ! Think of your old summer camp by the lake. We returned to Boulders after fifteen years in LA. It was then and now a return to childhood days and the fun of a weekend on the lake with family and friends. The charm of the place is it's screened porch overlooking the lake. Back then we could safely watch the kids fishing off the boulders or take a few quick steps to join them at the beach. Now the wife can watch me fish from the screened porch or take those few steps and join me on the boulders for fishing. Caught a smallmouth within 10 minutes and added perch, trout and catfish on the trip. Mom, Pop and baby loon's came by twice a day to say Hi.. Walter's restaurant and the Basshole Pub added to the experience and were only seconds away. The owners made us feel like family and the rooms were clean and neat.

How can you say bad things about this place. Yes it is Rustic but if you are a rich snob than this place is not for you. The rooms were clean and I like the rooms they remind of the good old days when familys took road trips together with no technologies. The owners are really nice and friendly. They will do any thing for you.I love the fact that it is so close to NHIS Speedway you don't have to deal with crowds or traffic. This place is beuatiful and if you complain about the noise than you don't like the sounds of the water lapping the beach or soft cries of the Loons. I recommend anyone to stay. Give it try. This what New Hampshire hospitality is like and what a peacefull vacation is. I can not for this Summer when we go back.

The Boulders is a great place to stay. The rooms are clean and the staff is very helpful and accommodating. It is what staying in New Hampshire should be, quiet, on the lake, and affordable. In the morning, you can here the loon singing and maybe even see one swimming by. The beach is a main reason to stay. It is clean and the water is cool and refreshing. The lake, Little Squam, is just steps from any motel or cottage door. Rowboats and canoes are available with a night's stay. At night, guests sometimes meet for a marshmallow/smores campfire evening. A good place to fish, too. With some bait and a decent pole, you can catch fish worthy of a photo opportunity. The location is great, too. Meredith is 20 minutes away, as is Plymouth and Ashland. My friend stays at the Boulders regularly and I've been there a few times myself and would stay again in a heartbeat. .

To the person who said The Boulders is filthy, they didn't stay at The Boulder @ Squam Lake. I've been going there for ten yrs.and I've never saw filthy! Yes, the rooms have limited decor ,but the are clean and well kept. I can't wait to get there every summer to meet up with friends ,some who have come for over 25yrs. I live at the ocean ,but the view from the Boulders porch is beautiful. Squam is a pristine lake. The Boulders is well kept and extremly comfortable. Nothing like fishing from the dock while the steaks are grilling and the kids are laughing with friends. Looking forward to hanging around the fire with old friends and a drink as the moon glistens on the lake.

This quaint motel is directly on the lake. It is a wonderful family spot and we found it easy to sneak away into a nook of the beautiful landscape and feel as if we were the only people there enjoying the breath taking views! The new manager is easy to deal with and a real get things done, and did things right! The units are much tidier than before and the new decor is breath taking. Our family will definately return time and time again! Thank you for helping us make memories on Golden Pond.

This is a delightful, inexpensive place to experience a small lake surrounded by the woods of New Hampshire. We have stayed there many times. It is not a luxury inn but the location is great. Parts of the Boulders are motel rooms. Additionally, you may want your own cottage. There was a canoe and rowboat (no charge last we were there). Ideal for those who love nature, want to be at water's edge, and are OK with simple accommodations that are clean.
