Bad business
When we arrived at Yankee Trail, everything seemed tolerably okay. The room phone was out of order, but we were assured it would be fixed. Our room was not clean and reeked of mildew poorly masked by a car air freshener hanging from the AC unit, but we were going to be spending most of the weekend out with family anyway, so we figured it was acceptable. Then when we stopped by later in the afternoon we discovered that not only were the phones still out but now the power was out, too! No phone, no lights, no running water, no AC, nothing. The owners had a big generator hooked up to power their house, but not their business. Around 9pm we gave up on their promises that the power should be back on "any time now" and had to drive around Holderness trying to find another motel with a vacancy.
Luckily we found a room at the Boulders up the road - they were wonderfully welcoming and accommodating. But Yankee Trail refused to remove the charge for our phoneless, powerless, useless room. Breach of contract. Terrible business. DO NOT STAY HERE!
