Cannon's Fishing Lodge, Altmar

I love the area, and love Cannons especially. The owners are very polite and try to make your stay enjoyable. I have stayed there many times. Last year I took relatives(Jeremy and Cris) to see Cannons and told them it would be a great place to keep their camper. Well it was all a success and now they go up more than me. The have told me about the owner really helping out with their fishing technique, and have improved greatly. I have tried other places but always rather stay at Cannons. Hope to go up as much as possable during different times of the year. Thank You to the Cannons.

My son and I spent a few days at Cannons Fishing Lodge taking a chance on the spring migration of Steelhead on the Salmon River. The accomodations were just what was ordered after a long day of fishing. Having a kitchen facility at our disposal was great since there are no places close to get breakfast. The host; Captain Dave went out of his way to insure we were comfortable with our visit and was available for any questions we had about the area. Cannon's hooked us up with a guide they were familiar with. His name is Eric Geary. I would strongly recommend using him if you plan on floating down the river. His knowledge of the holes is worth the price alone. He is a nice guy and very helpful. We elected to use his tackle instead of ours and it proved to be the right choice. Our only complaint was that due to the fast thaw and the rain a few days prior, the reservoir was releasing a lot more water than normal. Not only was the flow 4 times normal but the temperature of the water was 32.5 degrees and the steelhead were not very active. Not the guides fault...we had to search for hiding places along the bank and near fallen trees to find the big ones. We would not have known that if not having the guide directing us. Thanks to Eric and the Cannon's for a memorable trip. We will definitely come back. Sorry we missed you Crystal. But everything you told me was right on target. Thanks again. The Hendershot party of six that was in room 13. Where very pleased with the accomodations at Cannons. Everyone was very helpful and friendly even down to the cleaning girls and everyone tried to help our stay a little better. The fact the girls gave us clean sheets and towels in the middle of the week was a big help. Crystal you went out of your way also to help us and anwsered questions. I've always stayed at the Portly Angler til they sold it....they gave me a list of other motels in the area, Cannon's was on the list, after checking out a few other places, I didn't care for , I stayed at Cannon's for steelhead fishing....all I can say is if I had known about this place before I would have stayed there instead of the Portly!! Crystal and Dave are friendly, helpful and make you feel like you have known them forever........the place is clean, location to salmon river is within walking distance, and you get more than what you pay for. Thank you Crystal and Dave for your hospitality. We will be regular customers............................Mike, NJ

I've been to several of the area lodges and found this lodge to be my favorite. The owners are helpful, make you feel like family. The rooms are spacious and clean and priced very reasonable. The central game and kitchen area is very nice and convenient.
