The Trail's End Motel was a treat. It looks nice and clean from the outside, but nothing "spectacular" really. When you go inside of the rooms, though, it gets even better! Our room was really cute and clean. Cleanliness is the most important thing to me in a hotel room, and this one was pretty much perfect. The guy who owns the place is really nice, too, which is always a plus. The motel is also right by a river, and they have a really nice deck with wooden tables and chairs and even a grill for motel guests, right next to the river. I don't have any complaints about this motel at all, except that I had to kill a pretty big spider in the bathroom, but I'm using to having to squash spiders in my house, at my place of work, etc., so it wasn't that big of a deal for me. Haha. My husband and I also have to have some "white noise" in the background in order to sleep, though, so luckily we brought along a small fan, because the A/C unit in the room didn't make much noise. But if the A/C unit NOT being noisy is the worst complaint that we have about this motel, I'd say that's pretty darned good! :)
PS: The guy who owns the motel told us that a great place to have dinner was the Sundance (?) Cafe, so we decided to check it out. Well, despite my happiness with the motel, I wasn't happy with this cafe at all. As it turned out, it was basically a "fine dining" restaurant, which we weren't prepared to pay for. We were expecting a "diner" type of atmosphere and menu after hearing the name of the restaurant. We could hardly just get up and leave once we had sit down and ordered our drinks and got our menus, though. Aside from the price, though, the food was pretty gross. The southwestern spinach dip was good, but our salads were horrible (they truly tasted like they had picked leaves off of the surrounding trees and put them in our bowls with some ranch sauce), and our entrees were pretty terrible, too. I had to send mine back once, because the meat was really undercooked. So, if you're looking for a good place to eat while staying at the motel, don't heed the advice of the motel owner, 'cause the Sundance (?) Cafe was frankly pretty gross and entirely too expensive.
