STAY ELSEWHERE!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/26/11
We made this reservation at the last minute because we were attending the Sylvania 300 Sprint Cup race in Loudon, NH. What a poor choice! The cottages are on top of each other and in very poor condition. For example, the entrance stair railing could come off in my hand! The place had not been updated since the late 60s-early 70s. It was very dark, dingy...downright creepy. The shower made a terrible noise when it was used and the bathroom sink was rusty. Glad I was only staying one night!!! It is unfortunate that the owners did not apportion some of the rental fee for upgrades all along...these cottages should be razed and rebuilt! The only good thing about the place was a nice lounge area near the water and a great playground for the children.

Not the Ritz, but okay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/13/09
I stayed at the Anchorage for four days and the waterfront cabins could not be beat, but the cabins need work! Our shower was leaking scalding hot water and I showered in flip flops to avoid stepping on the floor. The kitchens should have a dishwasher and microwave, which would have have been helpful for the little ones staying with us. The bathrooms are in dire need of improvement, as as are the kitchens. I think the Anchorage could be a bigger hot spot if the cabins were modernized and renovated. They were a step above the bug infested cabins at Clark's Landing however, and I still consider that the worse resort I've ever stayed in!

Renter Beware!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/22/08
My wife and I rented this place for bike week(2 nights)site unseen. We believed the reviewsand also assumed a few things. Big Mistake. You walk onto the porch of this little cabin and wonder if the floor is OK? Go through the door to living room and you are hit with such a strong stench of moth balls you can hardly breathe. This is nothing more than a wooden tent with running water and uneven shakey floors. 2 full size beds(very old), rusted out very small shower stall, all the faucets drip, refridgerator door is rusted out. Even if it is/maybe clean, it does not looklike it is clean. Left window open for 2 days, wiped away the cobwebs and it still smelled awful. No air condition, no fans, NO TV? no telephone?, says they have wifi but you have to walk up to the office for it to work. No clean towels or cleaning or asked how the room was or if we needed anything. We are used to spending $200 plus per night but at $195/nite this is a total rip off. On the bright side they do have beautiful grounds and a nice deck down near the lake. You better think twice about this one! We even went back home the first night so we didn't have to sleep there. wonderful
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/26/07
we have gone and rented the trap house for a few years now (we have about 20 people) and it has been perfect in size and the cove has been very convenient for us to put our boats in. the place is always tidy and the service is phenomenal

What a spot
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/5/07
The accomodation are a step up from camping, you have shelter, toilet and running water, but the cottages need updating, the location can't be beat. we rent a boat and stay at the trapp house- secluded private beach, accomodates a very large family with lots of rooms and space and you don't have to worry about the kids making a mess b/c nothing is fancy. the new owners were very helpful and open to suggestions. we come every year and our kids can't wait to return!!

Looking forward to returning
By Mark, 2/21/07
My family has been going to the Anchorage since 2000. The location is fantastic. There is plenty to do within a short driving distance. We look forward to seeing the people we meet up with every year. The kids have a blast reconnecting with their friends. The cabins need work and hopefully the new owners will improve it and not tear it down. The service was always great. Unfortunately the price is getting to the point that renting a house is becoming an alternative.

Great location, horrible cabins
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/19/06
Sinks were rusted and brown. I wouldn't use shower without flip flops. Cabins were dark, filthy and smelled horrible and moldy. Haven't been touched in about 30 years. No TV, microwave or oven in cabin. Only a few working outlets and they weren't 3 prong so we couldn't plug in computer. The Lake is beautiful and the grounds are nice, but unless you rent a boat to escape on all day and evening, it wouldn't be tolerable. Everything we owned was dirty and smelly when we returned. Owners are very nice and helpful.

We have been going on vacation here for the past 6 years and look forward to returning as we are leaving each season. The owners and staff couldn't be more helpful and friendly.I would recommend it to anyone.
