I have been coming here for years and the place went way down for several years. The new owners have put allot in to it. Most of the rooms are remodeled, the staff was helpfull, and the rooms were very clean. The biggest thing is the view right over the river with a beatifull court yard in the back. There is no pool or hot tub anymore but it is a peacefull place with an unbeatable view i. I was informed that there are many more renovations to come including a lounge with a paddle wheel boat display and a dock. I got one of the rooms they call the big six whitch are the most expensive and it only cost me 89 a night, sat by the fire pit and spoke to the managers and several other guest Very homey. I hope anyone that is looking for a place atleast checks them out im sure you wont be disapointed.
My mother is handicapped and can only climb a few stairs. When told that the clerk informed us that she would only have to climb 3 steps and then a landing and then three more steps. When we arrived we found out that my mother would have to climb 18 steps or so that were in a state of outrageous disrepair. Our room was swarming with lady bugs and the curtains were hanging off the rods. The toilet ran the whole time we checked the room. The doors opening to the adjoining room would not lock so anyone could have entered our room from those two rooms. The landing outside our room felt as though it could give way at anytime. The back where we were told to park was a huge garbage heap. As we sat there we watched the man cleaning the upstairs room throw 2 pillows to the ground next to us. With the door to the room locked it could still be opened. And what really topped the whole thing she expected $150 a night for the dump. We ended up driving back to Dyersville, after the fight to get our money back, and stayed at the most beautiful super 8 that was about 1/2 the price. I would tell anyone who is even thinking of staying here to think again and find a more reputable hotel.
