America's Best Inn, Herkimer

I disliked everything! The table top was falling off, the phone didn't work. the bathrom door didn't close, and they charged us $100.00 a night and didn't offer our money back !

External appearance was shabby. Draperies not hung in an appealing manner, lobby dark and clerk not very service oriented. Approached the clerk and told her we had reservations. She responded with do you want to check in? (odd request, obviously she had experience with other customers who were not happy with their initial impression of the place). Because the lobby area was filthy, we asked to see the room first. When looking at the room, it smelled damp and musty, we killed two spiders and there was a space heater sitting on the dresser. Seems to me that would be a fire hazard. We indicated that we did not feel the room represented what we expected for the $69.00 room rate and instructed the clerk that we would not be staying and expected that they would not be charging us for the room. I will be contacting my credit card company and challenging any charge they may try to collect. We know others who had to stay there and they were equally appalled about the accommodations.

There web site offered services that were not correct. Web said check in is 2:00 pm its 3:00pm. Web- free local calls actual-you must pay per minute. Web- free wireless network,actual-does not work.Web- alarm clock,iron,and board in room,actual-they dont exist.Web-queen size bed, actual-little bigger than a single. I asked for a wake up call in morning but recieved no call in fact there was nobody in office just a note on door saying "leave keys on desk". It was a very unclean room
