This is a fantastic find. We stumbled across this lovely Inn during an annual New England tour. Not only were the hosts unbelievable friendly and fun, the staff was fantastic, the food AMAZING and the ambience delightful. We were so taken with this Oasis. My husband and I have traveled frequently, for years throughout the world and have never come across a place so special. It made our vacation. I follow Yahoo Travel to help plan our trips...this is a must see!

Outstanding Hospitality

Hosts Doug and Garth were the most friendly people imaginable. Staying at the American Hotel was truly a wonderful experience, a far cry from "Corporate pseudo-hospitality". These guys make you feel welcome and I believe they really appreciate the business they get. Can't say enough about this place. The building is a restored relic from days gone by. As you stand on the upper porch, you can't help but feel some sort of connection to it's past. I will be back again. Looking forward to seeing Garth, Doug, and their horse of a dog again.

friendly hotel

An old style historic hotel in the middle of nowhere. Hosts Doug and Garth were very friendly and helpful. Overall friendly atmosphere in restaurant and lounge. A place to meet new friends.
