Arizona Beach Lodge turned out to be a peaceful, quiet, out of the way place from which a short drive took us to all kinds of fun things to do and see. The ocean is a short walk over a bridge and down the driveway to the state park, or you can drive the short distance. We walked on the beach, visited relatives in Port Orford, and explored Bandon. Then we came back to our clean room and relaxed in comfort. Other family members stayed elsewhere and didn't even have a coffee pot. We had that plus a small fridge and microwave for less money. The owners were friendly and courteous.
My husband and I stayed with a young grandson for a week. We had been there previously in March. At that time, we met other family members who stayed in the three bedroom suite. We were not looking for the Ritz Carlton. We wanted value for our dollar in a peaceful place on the coast. It rained most of the time. But we found that our little suite had everything we needed. Every morning we found a little breakfast basket outside our door.Obviously,we were very impressed with the owners attempts to create a perfect family vacation. Imagine our surprise to find TETHERBALL. As for the mowing, our grandson got a ride on that very same mower. Exactly when would they suggest they mow? They have added a game room and all rooms are supplied with games, videos, and books. I think those visitors are bitter local people who missed the previous owners( who left them with a host of repair problems) This must have been a personal attack on a lovely family who were outstanding hosts. While there we talked to a number of businesses who were happy about the new owners and all they improvements they have made. Be sure to ask Ralph about his handmade totems scattered throughout the property. This time we are going in August so we can enjoy picking the wild blackberries that are abundant and free to all guests.
The owners have no hospitality experience. You will be very dissapointed if you are looking for the Arizona Beach of last year. No privacy, noise problems like mowing with full crowd, their own screaming children, barking dog, squaking bird. Tents scattered on the lawn, trees cut that provided privacy in this rustic but formerly lovely property. So very sad, we miss Mike
