shortcomings
By ,
curious location. cleanliness, organized staff, complete breakfast, private bath . . .none of these things are sought by owner. stay there for the experience of having stayed in a former hoslpital and, hopefully, at the cost of a one star hotel. i still go to lava hot springs and note they are apparently still in business, even with noted shortcomings.

A great card from a great guest
By ,
Thank you for your generous hospitality. Phil and i enjoyed our stay in lava very much. The pools were just what we both needed to relax and restore. We will look forward to visiting when the spa is open! Warmly Jolene Anderson Health is Wealth!

What a joke!
By ,
We stayed at the Aladdin. Upon check-in, we were immediately warned that children needed to be quiet due to other guests. We were also advised our bathroom was across the hall and if we needed a shower, we could come over to the main building. We were not advised of this when booking the reservation. We paid $154/night for a room that had 2 queen beds that looked nothing like the picture on the website. The door caught on the carpeting of the floor, so you had to work to get into the room. It was the last game of the Stanley Cup Finals and our TV didn't work. We called maintenance and they couldn't fix it either, so we had to go somewhere else to watch TV. The paint was peeling off the roof and the mattress was like sleeping on cardboard. There was a window a/c unit, so you could hear every car that drove by. The bathroom was across the hall and another room was right next to the bathroom. Very uncomfortable using it in the middle of the night. The next morning we got up at 6am to leave and my husband was taking a bath while I was drying my hair. I'm sure the guests in the next room were very happy about that. Next, the power goes out and we learn that the breaker blew. We called the front desk but they were in no hurry to fix it. I tried to finish in the room, but there wasn't one mirror and plugs were few and far between. The bathroom floor was soaking wet upon arrival and had mold on the ceiling and the paint was peeling off. We decided to go to the "home cooked breakfast" to get something for our money. The area was so small it was hard to find a seat. They cooked some type of egg cassarole with something green added?? The hashbrowns looked like microwaved frozen hashbrowns and after deciding to eat toast, we pulled 4 pieces of moldy bread out of the bag. After not being able to eat, we decided to leave and get a 99 cent hot dog from the gas station on the way out of town. Nobody was at the front desk when checking out. After calling the front desk to complain, the manager said she would refund me $25! Wow! The town itself is neat and quaint but the Lava Hot Springs Inn is definately not the place to stay. I would have expected to pay about $25 for the type of room and service. The hot spring pools are full of leaves, etc. and do not look very clean. It was a horrible experience.

Great Winter Getaway
By ,
We have continued to return to this hotel year after year because of the great hospitality and relaxing atmosphere. There are multiple hot pots on site (no driving required). The hotel staff is very accomidating even though we usually come with a very large group. Everything you need in town is within walking distance and there are many fun activities for both adults and families. This is a great winter and summer retreat!

Great Stay!!
By ,
My group of friends and I stayed at the inn in 2003. What a great place. As far as i know it is the only place in lava that you can walk out the door and enjoy the wonderful hot pots right where you are staying. We enjoyed our stay with them so much that we have returned every year since. The staff is always been super nice, and very tolerant of our group. We will be back for our eighth year next year.

My favorite weekend getaway!
By ,
Lava Hot Springs Inn is my favorite weekend escape. The facilities are quaint, the hot pools are extremely relaxing, and the staff is most helpful. The rooms I've stayed in have always been well-appointed and clean (and yes, I do bring my own blow-dryer). If you are expecting a 4-5 star hotel and entertainment, this place is not for you. If you want to relax and escape from the stresses of the real world I can't think of a better place. In fact, I think I need to book another weekend soon!

Don't forget anything
By ,
I stayed in the Blue house with six of my friends for my graduation trip. The house was adorable but lets just say not the best kept. The sink leaked, the shower was dirty and we didn't dare shower without our flip-flops on and the beds were like sleeping on a box. The room also didn't have a blowdryer as most hotels do these days so we had to go buy one at the store. Later we found out that one of us had forgotten some clothing and a wallet. We called the Inn and Jeremy was so helpful and said he would be sure to ship it out as soon as possible. Now it has been a week later and we called back to see if they had shipped it and guess what the clothes were still sitting there and the wallet was missing. The manager acted so calm and didn't try to make amends for it but blamed it on her for leaving it there in the first place. So fair warning if you stay at this inn make sure you don't forget anything of value and if you do well sorry but that is the last time you will see it!

Think twice! Overpriced!
By ,
Manager nice, enjoyed the hot springs pool But it stops there. Their massuse was good. Picture it old and if they remodeled in 2005 better do again. Breakfast was poor quality and not what we had expected for a hot bkfst.Needed some landscape clean up and dusting inside. We stayed in the blue cottage and it was very different, my husband had to shave at kitchen sink, no sink in bathroom. No mirror over sink etc. Had to push bushes out of way to get to path to door.Hedge trimming needed. Could not reccommend it. Needs some updating. I know they want to keep the atmosphere but major improvements required.

Where was the staff?
By ,
We were not happy with our stay. On that Sunday, room 4 was rented (just for the day) to a large group of Hispanic folks. They were having a huge party in the Hotel's hot pools. When they were done in the pools, they were running and roaming through the upstairs rooms and some kids walked in on us. Were were sitting around our room reading. They also filled up the upstairs bathrooms to shower and change. I couldn't go to the restroom! And they didn't leave until late (around 11 pm). They left a huge mess that we had to wade though the next morning. Where was the management? There was no consideration for the overnight guests.
