Romantic Getaway
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/02/09
The staff at the French Country Inn went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. They were helpful with directions and in many other ways! I would reccomend this lovely inn to ANYONE who is in need of a romantic getaway! Right on Lake Como too! Old world charm in a busy world with wonderful food & atmosphere. Have stayed many times before. Always pleased!

Our favorite romantic getaway for 14 years
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/16/07
We have been going to the French Country Inn bed and breakfast (about every 1-2 years) since 1993, and it remains our favorite romantic getaway (the balcony is our landmark of the first time my husband told me he loved me). Contrary to the previous reviewer, we have never heard any loud noise (from bar or otherwise) and we've stayed in virtually every section of each building and during each season (usually late spring or early fall). The rooms are the most quaint and cozy you'll find, the lake is gorgeous and quiet (in the winter it's breathtaking), and the restaurant is superb. We like that it's off the beaten path, but just a few minutes from downtown Lake Geneva. We've also partaken of the bar many times, and quite unlike the other reviewer's experience, it is usually quite dead (maybe they happened to get the one busy night in years?!). After 14 years, it's still our favorite romantic spot (not the huge hotel atmosphere, the charming quite lake atmosphere). It's awesome.

Louder than the Entire Country of France
By SharonR, 05/06/07
"My hustand and I recently spent our anniversary at the French Country Inn. We stayed in their most expensive room--the Historic Suite in the main building. The room is beautiful and the restaurant was great. Unfortunately, no one warned us that the room is above a bar that gets more and more raucous as the night goes on and the room has NO soundproofing. The door doesn't even close completely. At midnight, after listening to a chorus of drunks singing "Lucille" so loudly they seemed to be at the foot of the bed, we called the bar and asked when the music stopped. An irritated woman told us not before 2:00. We live an hour away, so we just got up, dressed and drove home. It was my first and last time there, so I have no idea if the rooms in the other buildings are quieter. But unless you're heading to Lake Geneva to drink and sing until 2:00 a.m., or unless you're fine spending three hundred dollars for a room you'll abandon in six hours, skip the Historic Suite."
