We REALLY should've listened to the reviews...

This place is just about as dirty and cheaply made up a "motel" as one could hope to find without actually renting bare-bones cabins at a campground with dirt floors. No opportunity to cheap out on amenities, carpet, decor or furniture was missed! So, in the interest of respect to the owner for getting the maximum return on their rental property dollar, congratulations.
Other highlights included:
- Absolutely the hardest mattress I ever slept on; felt more like a box spring.
- Found rubbish under the bed from who knows how long since the people that left it there had been gone.
- REALLY gnarly hair and filth left in the sink and shower drains from previous guests.
- The shower stall itself is a pre-fab bit of plastic that one could easily lift and carry about with them. Water pressure was okay, though.
- The outside lights stay on right outside the windows all night. This would not be a problem if the drapes in the rooms were thick enough to keep the baleful yellow glare out of one's eyes long enough to get to sleep (as if you thought were actually gonna get to sleep on that mattress!)
We got the room to stay over after the Finger Lakes Wine Festival, which is always first rate, but I should've gotten a better room, sooner than I did. Paying more than $120 a night for this, I truly do feel ripped off.
The people who run the place seem quite nice, but they REALLY need to put some of that money they're making back into the product, presentation and preparation. The rooms could use a good scrubbing down with Lysol, a complete facelift to get that Salvation Army decor out of there, and someone with some kind of decorating sense needs to just re-do the trim, drapes, art and general appearance of the rooms, for goodness' sake.
All this coupled with a far less-than-stellar meal at an establishment quite close to this motel really makes me wonder who there in Watkin's Glen is looking out for how well guests coming to big venue events are being looked after.
Ultimately, this was far and away the worst money I have ever spent on lodging anywhere; needless to say I would not go back if the room was free. I would go so far as to say that I'd think twice about staying over in the town after this experience, which is likely unfair to the town, but once bitten makes one twice shy.
