rooms were adequate. clean. lady who checked us in was nice. but went to the famous Tiki Bar for a night cap, and after the owner bragged about how much he was making there, he proceeded to rob us blind! needed to take out a second mortgage for a couple drinks! we bought the bar 3 bottles of liquor, but only got a couple little drinks in plastic cups, rammed full of ice! felt like I was in the heart of New York City, not on the lake during the "off season"!! we got taken advantage of. I don't mind paying for a drink, in a place that warrants those prices, but this was a mugging!!
We got married this July on Seneca Lake and held our reception at Coal Point at the Anchor Inn. The on site coordinator did a great job making sure everything went smoothly. She met with us and talked on the phone as often as we needed to be sure that she knew what we wanted for our day. She was always willing to make phone calls and research anything. She arrived early on the morning of the wedding to make sure everything was clean, the tables were set correctly, and the caterer, florist, DJ, and cake maker had what they needed. That morning we realized that the sand we had purchased for the table tops was wet. The owner made several phone calls and sent an employee to retrieve new sand (25 miles away) for no additional charge. He picked up the wedding party on power boats at the Seneca Legacy(a large charter boat in town) and brought us to the dock of The Tiki Bar so we could arrive by water. As the guests arrived at the reception, there was a person available with a cart to drive them up and down the hill as they needed(great for my parents). The bartender was very friendly and dressed nicely for the occassion. It was great to see the children having fun gathering sea shells and skipping stones along the beach. The day went exactly as we had planned it with the exception of a little rain which I never noticed because we were under the large tent. The reception ended with a gorgeous rainbow over the lake. After the reception, several family members and friends joined us next door at The Tiki Bar. There happened to be a live band that night, we danced the rest of the night away and relaxed on the white sand beach under the huge neon palm trees. We had a fantastic day and would do it all again tomorrow.
What a beautiful location - even on a rainy day! DON'T let the location fool you! The manager is sly, says one thing and does another, and is not around when you need him! He charged $315.00 per keg and wine per glass/bottle as if you were buying beverages at the Tikki Bar! He let his bartenders place a "tips" container out during the reception and then expects 15% gratuity on top of that.
The lighting is terrible when exiting the venue at night. You have to climb stairs or walk up a steep driveway and cross railroad tracks as well. I can't believe he is allowed to be open in the evening!
Save your money, there are other beautiful locations on the lake that are more worth the money spent I'm sure!
First of all the price you pay for the place is way overpriced, you get no help from the owner for the money and he will throw hidden fees at you left and right. stay away from this place like the plague. The view is nice but not worth the pounding headache. Alcohol very over priced could have bought my own bottle of wine for $6 he charged $24
I was the first wedding at Coal Point located at the Anchor Inn in August 2007. I have known the owner and management for a long time. They were all exceptional in the management and organization of the entire event. This was not a small event. We rented the entire motel and cabins as well as had 200 people attend our wedding/reception. It was the most perfect day and the greatest memories were created! We returned in July 2008 and rented 4 rooms for family wishing to return to celebrate our year anniversary. This will become an annual trip! WE LOVE THIS PLACE! We would recommend this facility for ANY type of event! If you want a beautiful site, prompt service, professional Event Team and reasonable rates check them out! Also, the Tiki Bar is a great place to hang out. They added a sand beach this year too!
We were shocked to see the motel under construction from the road but pleasantly surprised that it didn't affect the room or view. Clean, comfortable for the inexpensive price. Nice view from the large porch overlooking lake. (Road is between you and lake) The Tiki Bar closed -off season -but it looked very nice. Absolutely NO nightlife!
I did not stay at the Inn, I was a participant in one of the first events held at their new outdoor event venue. A lovely location with great potential, even without available parking ......... however poor management and greed will likely destroy this location before it has a chance. I will never return there and definitely discourage anyone from ever attempting an event there. Please be cautious when dealing with these people.
Motel is clean and cozy. Owner is very knowledgeable about the area. Will visit again and again. Have been going there for years and with the addition of the lake front facilities it is an outstanding place to visit.
