Better than the Beach
This was my first time going to Lake Erie, I was going to go to the beach but Hurricane Irene screwed that up so this was last minute. Best last minute trip ever, the location is perfect and close to everything. The property this sit on is very beautiful and peaceful, if your looking for less hustle and bussle of the town of Erie this is the place togo. Nothing chain hotelish bout this place. The staff is awesome, just two Kelly and Demaris Owner Operators, they are very knowledgeable of the area and great people to talk to. I will def. be going back here very soon. They say winter(cause the lake freezes over) is just as pretty as summer, we shall see will be back up in Feb. Also a lot of wineries, Erie wine very tasty.:))

Wonderful, relaxing vacation spot
By ,
Lakeview on the Lake is a true gem. My family and I recently spent a few days there, and we look forward to a time when we can return. Most would say that watching the sun set here is the number one attraction, and it is fabulous. However, I think that is topped by the hosts, Kelly and Demaris. They were accommodating, and extremely helpful in answering any questions you might have. My family was split up between Annie's Retreat and the hotel rooms. Annie's retreat is modern, well-designed, and extremely pleasant - it's a good place for a family with two or more children. The hotel rooms are quaint and rustic - the interiors and exteriors are all finished wood, and remind you of a log cabin. These accommodations fit perfectly with the aura of the location. The pool is well-kept, is a great place to spend the day relaxing with family or friends, and we spent hours there. The hosts have a plethora of board games you can check out to pass the time, as well as volleyball and bocce ball on the lawn. The location is a wonderful starting point for day trips to local wineries, Presque Isle State Park, or even Niagara Falls. Make sure you get back from the wineries early, though. The way to end the day is sitting in the Adirondack chairs, sipping a glass of wine, and watching a fabulous sunset. A visit here reminded me to stop and enjoy the everyday, simple pleasures of life that we often overlook or forget. Go with that in mind, and you won't be disappointed.

spectacular
By ,
We stayed in the Family Cottage and strongly disagree with the comments of the one reviewer. While ist is true the unit is old it is very well maintaned and clean. it si what is expected based on what was on the web and what we were told when we reserved the unit. It is not unsafe unless you are drunk and clumsy. The sunset is spectacular - the best I have seen, and the hosts are wonderful. The rates are comparable to the nicer interstae hotels which are not nearly as nice. They hosts were very knowledgable on the area and helped us with all our requests. A definite WINNER.

Great Retreat
By ,
We enjoyed our stay and the cabin was spacious and comfortable. We went to get away and enjoy the peace and quiet and Lakeview offered that and so much more. We are already planning on a return trip to enjoy the sunsets again, the vineyards and everything else that Erie has to offer. The view of the lake is very beautiful no matter what time of day. Kelly and Damaris were very gracious and friendly.

The best place in Erie!
By ,
My husband and I have been staying at Lakeview for the past three years. We absolutely love watching the sunset with a bottle on wine overlooking the lake. The whole atmosphere is what really gets you, so quite and peaceful, a wonderful place to relax. We rent the same cottage everytime we go...we wouldn't stay anywhere else!

A Romantic Escape
My fiancé and I have traveled to destinations all over the United States, but there is nothing more beautiful than sitting on Adirondack chairs with a bottle of wine holding hands looking at the most picturesque sunset we have ever seen. This was our first time staying at the beautiful Lakeview (long weekend + 2 nights not planned and luckily one room was available), but it will not be our last. We are true wine lovers and the proximity to several vineyards and wineries was a huge plus. And I am told that in September and October you can smell the grapes. I can assure you that my fiancé and I will be packing some sweaters and will be coming back soon to smell the grapes, and feel the changing of the seasons as we unwind from this hectic world. We have been to the likes of Beverly Hills, the Napa Valley, and Key West, but we have yet to see a sunset or property like Lakeview. They offered the cleanliest rooms, and the friendliest staff. The owners, Kelly and Demaris, are always willing to give you insights to some of the gems that Norwest PA has to offer, since they own one of the best kept secrets. This is going to be a yearly vacation even after we have children.

A Fall paradise found
By ,
We have traveled the world and stayed in many wonderful hotels, but the location, service, accommodations, and beautiful sunsets makes Lakeview the best we have ever found. We have now stayed several times in various rooms, cottages, and suites and love them all. The obvious care and attention to detail by the owners is evident. We will contimue to frequent lakeview on every visit to Lake Erie.

mixed feelings
By ,
We stayed in the family "cottage" and found it to be a dilapidated mobile home, rather than a cottage! It was clean but several drawers wouldn't open, several light bulbs were burned out, or not working for some other reason, and as is the case with mobile homes, had very tiny bedrooms. The price for staying in the dismal trailer was extremely high for what we got (it was $185 a night). However, the worst part was not the dilapidated trailer that was advertised as a "cottage" but the fact that there was a severe drop off in the back yard and was simply "guarded" by a rope to alert one of the dangers. We chose the 'family cottage' based on an internet discription of it as being family friendly (isolated from the other cabins and the motel and as having a fire pit). We were there with grand children and wanted to have them experience the delights of cooking hot dogs and S'mores over an open fire and to be able to play in the yard. The children did love the fires at night, but I was constantly concerned about their safety due to the drop off. I can't imagine why the owners have not installed fencing to protect children, since this is advertised as a family friendly cottage. in this day of liability concerns, the owners would have real legal problems if some child fell down those steep cliffs. On the positive side, the heated pool was very clean and the children enjoyed many hours swimming. The sunsets were incredible. We walked out to the lake view and sat in the provided chairs while the children played on the swing set or the hammock, and that view and the sunset made us almost forget our dreary trailer abode. I wouldn't take the grandchildren there again due to my safety concerns and we wouldn't stay in the trailer again, but the peaceful setting, the gorgeous lake view, and the sunsets might tempt us to go there again if we could stay in a more updated cabin.

A spring retreat
By ,
I spent 3 nights at Lakeview and wish I could have stayed more! The bed was comfortable, the view was fabulous, and the hospitality was excellent. Spending time at Lakeview was a great way to relax and "de-stress" while soaking in some great quiet time. It was a very great place to stay! I hope to get back there soon!
