Owner/Chef: Cheap & Defensive
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/13/10
Our "all you can eat" fish dinners (4) resulted in a two hour bad experience when at first the waitress, after long delay, substituted fried fish for what she assured us could and would be broiled. Three of us could not eat fried foods without upset; she apologized for placing the order wrong, left the vegetables & potatoes, took the fried back & ordered broiled. We ate the broiled filets & ordered 4 more. The Owner/Chef came out to our table, apologized for our slow and error filled experience, blamed us for poor communication to the waitress, while telling us firmly that he refused to make us an additional broiled filet for our äll you can eat" dinners because they took longer to prepare. The waitress knew well we wanted broiled,& assured us it was ok to substitute. Chef just changed the order back to fried, figuring that we would accept & eat it. We could not, however, & sent it back. He fixed us one filet each & refused the äll you can eat" promise of the waitress. He could have just fixed another order (least expensive option), complimented us the meal, or whatever. We paid, tipped 18%, and left thinking the food was good but we would not return nor recommend to our friends.  He said he fired the waitress, yet we all challenged his behavior. She was nice.
