Blackhawk's Trail Lodge, Rockford

My husband, myself and friends have been coming to the lodge for at least 13 years. We love our friends Becky and Dee! They run a wonderful, clean, fun lodge. So relaxing! Ask for all inclusive Becky :). Brownie & Deb

We were looking for a quick weekend getaway and hoping to not have to go too far from home. Found Blackhawks' Trail Lodge on the internet, not sure what we typed in when doing the internet but we were so fortunate to have found this hidden treasure. This place is so relaxing and can be very romantic. Don and Becky are such wonderful hosts; they go out of their way to make you feel welcomed. The room are charming and bed was very comfortable! Have cable if you just want to stay in the room in the fresh AC. The room had a good size fridge to hold our food for the weekend. We cooked out using a grill and charcoal they provided for us. We played bean bags in the back parking lot, we relaxed down by the river, took a rest on the hammock and had a canoe adventure of a lifetime, all included in this inexpensive but unforgettable weekend getaway. We have traveled to many other hot, expensive, popular vacation destinations; this was one of our favorite! We hope to be back again before summer is over and again in the winter. If someone is not sure about staying at the Blackhawk's Trail Lodge, read the other reviews, they are all true. You will smile the whole time you are there and you will be sad when it's time to go home.

Blackhawk's Trail Lodge is set on the Rock River south of Rockford, a gorgeous setting. The rooms are clean and basic, cutely decorated. The hosts and the setting are what make this place legendary. The hosts are very friendly and have a huge back sunroom where you can gather and grab a $1 beer out of the fridge. I have traveled the world and Blackhawk is one of my favorites, just because it is simple, cheap lodging in a gorgeous location. In July flowers are blooming everywhere. The whole place is eccentric, but friendly. We had a great time and are planning to return in July 2009 and again for many years.

Becky & Dee make you feel like you are part of the family. This is my 2nd time visting and I look forward to this as much as going to Mexico for a week. I will go back time & time again.

We have driven by this place for years and have never stopped. Being from Rockford, IL, You would think of getting away to be farther than 15 minutes away, But that is not allways possible with the price of gas these days. Dee and Becky are some of the nicest people you will meet, And I cannot forget the dog Gumbo. The rooms are very cozy and comfortable and the best part is relaxing on the four seasons porch with the circular fire place which lets you sit back and forget about everything. Myself and Brenda will be trying to make it a point to visit once a month and spend time with our new found friends.Paul S.
