Hiouchi Motel, Crescent City

Its nothing fancy but its clean, friendly and a good value. The cafe next door had good breakfasts and was a lively place. Its in a good location for exploring the redwoods. Its in the country but you can be in Crescent City in 15 minutes. I would stay here again.

Location, location, location, as they say in the real estate business, is everything.Not only is the Hiouchi Motel located in the perfect spot to explore the wonders of the Redwoods but the motel is also sparkling clean, comfortable and surprisingly quiet. The young crew that staffs the place is friendly, efficient and prompt. The rooms look new, with very comfortable beds, spacious bath/vanity and nice through-ventilation. Right across the road is a mini-mart that has all the basics you will need for a stay. The State Park is just down the road, with great access to several trails all around. The only shortcoming (if you'd call it that) is that there are no restaurants nearby for dinner. There is a cafe next door but one whiff of the grease and we refused to enter. This means a ten minute drive to Crescent City. We'd happily stay there again and recommend the place highly. Notice that I haven't mentioned their rates; you'll be even more amazed when you see how low they are.

I called and made reservations for 2 nights, for 2 rooms. We were attending funerals for my cousin and his brother in law. This was one of the most accomodating places, I have ever stayed. Our beds were comfortable, our rooms were clean and cozy. Everyone was so nice to us. Thank You for your very caring attitudes, during this very difficult time...This place was the best.........
