Redwood Motel, Angola

The price was ok but everything else was undesirable.

My room was musty and the sheets had a smoke odor even though I was in a non-smoking room. The staff was inexperienced and had no business dealing with the general public. There are better options in and around Angola. There is a rough crowd here and it seems to be more suited to a work release program than a motel.

This is a great place to stay. The people here are great and bend over backwards to help you. Rooms are clean and being remodeled. The ones that are done are extremely nice. The rates are good. (well below the average for the area). Great location, give you a little of the city and a little of the country. I will definately be staying here again when in the area.

Place is now under new management/ownership. They are working very hard to update everything. It looks like it has been a slow process but they are doing great. The remodeled rooms are awesome. Each room has a microwave and small fridg. The people are very nice. The prices are more than decent. Great location for in or out of town activities. Definately a good find.

This motel is now being managed by the owners, who are wonderful people. The manager referred to in the 06/22/09 review has been terminated and new staff is in place. Rooms are being remodeled, some are done, some yet to be done. New laundry service is in place so the new linens ARE washed between each guest stay and as often as guests request. It's location near Trine University and Pokagon State Park, as well as this counties 101 lakes make this a great place to stay! Soon to change the name to University Inn.

The place in under new managers. The owners are great people that care about their customers. They are working on remodeling the entire place, what is done is great. Their rates are cheap compared to most places. I would reccommend the place to everyone.

The front desk person was very rude, front door was locked and it took 20 mins for him to come to the door. Came out with a cigarette in his mouth and did not put it out the whole time I was there. Looked at a room but did not stay due to the attitude of the man at the front desk.

My fiance and I attended a graduation party at Trine (tri-state) University last weekend. We decided to stay at the Redwood Motel for its location about a block from the University and downtown. I was pleasently surprised to learn that the owners had taken the motel back and are doing a major make-over. The rooms had been remodeled, painted, new carpet and best of all they were VERY reasonable in price. The desk staff was polite, friendly and very helpful. I have read the other reviews on this site anddecided to chime in. This is a whole new motel according to the manager. We had a very nice room for a very low price. I recommend the Redwood Motel.

We stayed 2 nights and I couldn't wait to leave. The first night we checked in and then didn't come back until the office was closed. Our sheets were stained! The bedspread had blood stains on it! The bathroom was dirty! I complained the next day and was told the washers were broken so they didn't have clean sheets. YUCK! I heard the guy snoring next door and their t.v. playing. I don't care how cheap it was, I won't stay there again! I would rather sleep in my car.

Pros: Very close to the Civil War event we were attending; Close to good restuarants. Fairly inexpensive place with air/tv some noticable interior improvements Cons: Upper walkway dangerous, floor weathered plywood,balcony railing xtremely loose. No maid service or clean towels or trash dumped. Missed 1st day wake-up didn't use service afterwards. Appears oriented to weekly/monthly residents.
