Rocky River Motel, New Milford

We were a bit concerned about staying for the night here because we are city flocks and it seemed like we were middle of nowheres. We asked the gentleman at the front desk if there were other hotels in the area. Without hesitation he pulled out a map, showed us where they were and printed out directions. We were surprised that someone can be so willing to lose business and help out his competition. We asked to see a room so we wouldn't feel bad about not staying and taking up the gentleman's time, we were so sure the room wouldn't be proper. We were dead wrong, not only was the room nice but beyond what we were use to. Huge flat screen, marble bathroom, dual sinks, Aveda products, etc. We were very pleased and told the gentleman we would stay and he said happens all the time. Not only was the room great but everything was within a mile or so from the place. In the morning we found out it was a family who ran and operated the place, they been in business 20 years or so. My boyfriend left for a gig ( he is a drummer) and I stayed in the room during his show. I was shocked when the door started opening and an employee entered the room with a pass key (no knock) He was assuming nobody was there as our vehicle was gone. This was the most blatant act of privacy invasion I could imagine. Not only that, but highly illegal. This happened around 6:00pm, when housekeeping for the day is way past. No excuse, it was an attempt to go through our things. It was obvious the employee did not realize anyone was in the room. I am still nervous about the whole experience. We informed the desk clerk in the morning about this episode and it was shrugged off. No concern about the significance of the act or the possibility that it may have happened before. I suggest to anyone staying at this motel to take your valuables ( and credit card numbers) with you. I surmise that was the only explanation for the intrusion of my privacy. This is just Wrong on so many levels!

Very nice! We stayed for 7 days/nights and enjoyed clean comfortable rooms, and friendly/helpful staff. We were pleasantly suprsied by this charming little place.

We were extremely pleasantly surprised upon checking into our rooms at the Rocky River Motel. We stayed in the new section, so I don't know what the rooms in the old section are like. The beds and bedding were amazing. Stayed 3 nights and slept well every night. Had a lovely view out the back of the motel. It was very clean. I can't imagine there's a nicer place to stay in New Milford. If we ever find ourselves in the area again, we will definitely stay here. We highly recommend this place.

What a motel.....actually the owners of this place should change the name from motel to hotel. I can not say enough good things about our rooms. It was beyond our expectations. 50inch Plasma TVs, a huge marble bath with two sinks and refrigerator/microwave...great selection of in room coffee. The bed, it was like sleeping on a cloud. We were just so happy with our stay. Only negative was no breakfast in the morning but the room was worth every penny.

The staff (family) is so nice. The rooms are extremely affordable; even the "new" section. The $60 rooms are older, but fine -all I need for a trip to New Milford, CT. The newer rooms are incredible - in-room jacuzzi, etc. - these people put a lot of money into superior quality building. Listen. It's not Disney World. I don't expect a built-in tiki bar. This place is what I'm always looking for: a place to lay my head that's clean and safe for an excellent price.

We were tired and didn't know where were going to stay. We ended up in New Milford, CT looking for a motel. There are none of the big chains here. The only two motels we found are out of town North on Rt. 7. We stopped at the Rocky River Motel because it looked OK. Reception lady told my wife she had 2 rooms one for a lower price and one for a higher price. She looked at both rooms. The first was in the older part which was clean and decent. We chose the higher priced one in the "New Building" which was unbelievable. We had a scrumptiously comfortable king bed with a down comforter and excellent pillows. On the wall directly across was a 46 inch plasma wall mount TV angled for bed viewing. We also had a giant bathroom with herbal organic supplies in abundance, Moen fixtures, and a marble floor. In addition there was an office like separate room for our laptop complete with desk and chair. Wireless internet was strong and fast and cell service was good. The amenities also included a large closet, microwave, refrigerator, stainless ice bucket, glass drinking glasses, lighted make up mirror and coffee maker. Ice was around the corner. and the staff (mostly family) treated us with great courtesy. This is a great place to stay.

This was a terrible location for the price. No breakfast, no diner or place to eat without getting into the car. It was very fancy and expensive. The staff was inconsiderate of our needs. When we asked for more towels (we have young children) we were given a big sigh and come down and get them.... Needless to say we will stay someplace closer to a town, with breakfast and perhaps a pool!

Me and my husband go to Kent for the annual antique show and we always use to stay at high priced Inn's in the area. We had heard great things from other members of the antique show about this hotel and decided to try it. We stayed in a one bedroom suite, it was incredible. The room had two huge LCD TV, huge bathroom with a walk-in shower and air tub, which filled from the ceiling, his/her sinks and a toilet closet. The room also had a mini bar. The bed was the most comfortable bed I have had the pleasure to sleep in, the lines were top notch. If you are in the area go and discover this place. Only bad thing was that there was a wedding at the hotel and the wedding guest were noisy and inconsiderate of other guest, but over all this place was fantastic,I already made reservations for next year.

The place is poorly run-staff took 15 min to locate our reservation-prices are not cheap like they advertise on their website-our room was in the old section-carpet needs replaced.
