Can't Wait To Go Back!
By denver, 3/19/12
I really enjoyed these cabins. It appeared as if the cabins had been completely remodeled with a new roof, new air, new flooring and new tile in the shower. They now have wifi which is not common around the lake and dish. I was also told that they were still in the process of remodeling. There is a general store with gas, fishing gear, licenses and food. They also have a 3 man jet ski and pontoon for rent. The public beach is just across the dam and is not 2-3 miles (as stated in another review). The beach has picnic tables, swings, restrooms and plenty of shade. The woman that I registered with was wonderful. She let us check out the room before registering and also was more than happy to refund our money if anything was not in working order. Although these are not cooking cabins, there is a grill in front along with a picnic table. Pets are also allowed. They are kind of pricey, but I did find that to be true with all of the lodging either on the lake or in town. I am definitely going to go back this season and will stay at Kingsley. I believe that what is good for one is not always good for another and before taking anyones word, go check things out for yourself.

You will be sorry you stayed here!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/21/11
I don't know where to start - the (unnamed) lady who took our reservations actually specifically lied to us about the property. We traveled with our children and 3 other families and their children (all friends). We were told that we would all be together. We were told that the property is "right on the beach" and that you can "walk right out to the beach". This is a scam! They collect your FULL PAYMENT up front before you ever see where you're staying and before they tell you where you're going to stay. They threaten you with a ridiculous list of "rules" and cancellation fees... then you finally get the bad news (after you've paid). The property is not on any beach of any kind, it's on a cliff next to the dam. The nearest beach is public and around 2-3 miles down the highway and across the dam. The views from the deluxe "cabin" (which is actually half of a poorly remodeled double-wide trailer) are BEAUTIFUL. This was the best thing about the property. Two of our families shared the "deluxe" cabin and then the other two families held individual cabins ACROSS A HIGHWAY. The individual cabins are terrible shack-like dwellings with non-working air conditioning, bugs everywhere, mold, and what must have surely been wiring and construction standards far below what anyone would consider safe building standards. For example - our light was a single socket literally hanging from the ceiling by it's own electrical wires. We stuck it out because of the threats about cancellation fees and the owner literally held our primary family's credit-card hostage against us. She was rude and unwilling to credit or change anything for the lies we were told. One of her employees actually told me (when the owner wasn't around) that she does this all the time (even lying to old disabled people about ada accessibility) and that she's quitting. I've slept in better places for free than our cabin for $100/night! I MUCH RATHER would have stayed in a decent hotel room back in Ogallala and driven the extra 10 minutes each day to the lake for $70-$80/nt than pay that. The days were over 100f and the air conditioning either didn't work or was wholly inadequate - again the property owners did nothing to correct this and didn't care that we have small children including a diabetic 5-year-old. I don't know how many ways I can say DO NOT STAY HERE. You would be far more comfortable and have saved more money in a tent in a camping area than here. Pick a hotel or a camping area... or one of the many beautiful homes around the lake for rent... do not stay here! The property owner's staff are actually VERY FRIENDLY and kind but powerless to do anything to make your stay better. They and the view were the best part of our visit.

Best location and lodging for the price!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/8/11
Was pleasantly surprised after reading some earlier reviews. The cabins our famliy stayed in were all remodeled and super clean. The tiled showers are a nice touch. We really enjoyed the new BBQ pit and picnic tables, the boys thought it was"cool" to make smore's out front of the cabin with an awesome view of the lake. The convenience store was a blessing as they truly had everything we needed. Thanks for the raft and oars! I couldn't drag the wife away from the clothing section. The staff was courteous and very helpful with bait choices and areas were the walleye were biting daily. It was definately worth the money and would highly recommend to families on a budget.

The new and improved Kingsley Lodge
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/14/11
After reading several bad reviews we decided that we were going to check out these cabins before we reserved for the upcoming summer. Bonnie, the owner, was more that willing to meet us on a Sunday afternoon to show all the renovations that they have done to the cabins! COMPLETELY remodeled! new tiles showers, no carpet in the bathrooms anymore, new painted walls, new flooring, new bedding, new roofs to be coming. We wouldnt hesitate to stay there. In fact we booked 3 cabins and a suite for a upcoming family reunion. I would highly recommend Kingsley Lodge!

EWWWWW
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/16/10
There's a plunger sitting on the floor next to the toilet in the carpeted bathroom. Need I say more? The bugs smashed on the walls were a real treat too. We wanted to stay here to save some $ on going out. Ended up going out anyway because the place was so yucky that you didn't want to cook there - let alone eat there. The only good things were that the staff was pleasant and the pontoon boat was nice. Would have rather slept on the boat.

Do not stay here!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/16/10
Did not like anything about Kingsley lodge except the view. The cabins need to be cleaned and some TLC. The ownership has a lot to be desired. We had 6 people stay and had 2 rolls of toilet paper- went to ask for more- her reply was I guess I will give you some, but I usually don't replenish the toilet paper. We also wanted new towels (stayed there 3 nights)- her reply to that was don't you reuse your towels at you own home- she refused to give us new towels and we paid $150.00 a night. Terrible customer service! Not worth the money- camping would have been cleaner. You do not get treated like a paying customer.

Wouldn't recommend
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/2/10
these cabins are overpriced. The shower leaked through the wall and onto the carpet. There was a horrible smell of mold and the cabin was not clean. There were an undergarment under the bed and there were cobwebs in the windows and in the bathroom. The toilet was plugged and there was no plunger. For the price I would recommend staying somewhere else.

blah no thanks
By POE, 5/24/10
as it does have a great over view of the lake ..... it is lacking in its healthyness .... the shower seemed to have a moldy smell and not working properly ... the front door did not lock shut so it wouldnt take to much effert to have harm fall apon your life .... and if your staying there you are alone there is no one around if there are problems

best value for any fishing trip we ever had
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/23/09
They have nice little cabins with great lake views. Location is right on the dam and a convenience store that has everything. They have 2 units that you can see clear to the other end of the lake with a small kitchen and living room , outside grill, a view to die for. Must check out the prices amazing.
