Ants, Rude Staff, Overpriced.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/27/10
To sum it up, Ants and Bugs, Dirty, Uncomfortable, Rude Staff... The worst hotel I have ever stayed at! My husband and I booked a hotel room for one night, for myself and our two little girls. We booked it for a Thursday night in September and it was still $200. My first mistake was not reading reviews online before going to this awful place. We arrived only to find out that they scheduled our overnight for the wrong month. They scrambled and were able to give us a room. When we arrived in the room we found ants in the refrigerator. We went to the front desk and told the front desk about the ants ( no big deal right, its happens is what I said to the front desk) She said she would take care of it. We came back from dinner and the ants were gone. We then put our food in the fridge for the overnight. We had bought expensive cheeses from the local cheese shop. When we went to check out the next morning our food had ants on it and so did my daughters clothes in her suitcase. I complained to the front desk again and they said they would send housekeeping to take care of it. This is as we are checking out. I was furious at this point. We had to throw away food. I wanted pay back for ants being in our $200/night room! That never happened. They blamed it on us, telling us that we brought food in and that we left food in the garbage cans. We were there for less than 24 hours and we somehow caused an ant problem?????!!!!!!! They said we left dirty diapers in the garbage. Again I reiterate we were there for less than 24 hours! We checked in at 6pm, found ants, complained and then checked out at 10am the next morning and there were more ants! The management is the WORST! Rude and completely unwilling to admit to any wrong on their part. We visit Greenport often and I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone.

looking forward to a return
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/28/09
it's been a while since i've stayed at the greenporter, but i just checked out the other reviews and was annoyed at them and needed to add my two cents. the greenporter is a really fun renovated motel in a decor that is true to the era:mid century modern. clean design and minimal decor. thankfully no reproduction art on the walls- a calming room with great bedding-the perfect getaway. the restaurant was great- all local wine pairings with a delicious dinner- made us want to visit several of the vineyards. the hotel staff and restaurant staff were courteous. aside from driving to various vineyards, we were able to walk to dinner and enjoy this quaint town- all conveniently located to the motel. we will definately return.

Peace and Quiet
By Martin A E, 5/5/08
May is off-season for the North Fork of Long Island. But I was looking for peace and quiet and that is what I got. The room had everything I required. It was clean, there was a bed, tv, bathroom and shower. Dinner at the restaurant attached to the hotel was superb as was the continental breakfast each morning. In addition, the hotel was in walking distance of the entire town as well as the LIRR, Hampton Jitney and Shelter Island ferry. I didn't avail myself of the spa facilities but there is always next time. The Greenporter is a find!

Never again
By Marisa, 12/5/06
This place is awful - I totally agree with the other reviews. My husband and I were so excited about this place - the website leads you to believe that it is a nice and modern hotel when it really is a motel/dorm room. The bathroom is awful, you can see through the shades in the room, there's no rug so it's cold and gloomy in there, the bed is basically a futon. The wine bar/French bistro, La Cuvee, is a joke - there's nothing that resembles a French Bistro in this place. They mention a spa but I'm pretty sure the only thing that makes it a spa is that they have a jacuzzi by the pool outside. I definitely would NOT recommend this place.

Do NOT Stay There!
By adubs, 10/3/06
The bed was comfortable, other than that, it was awful. No carpet, decorated in IKEA decor that I could have bought every piece in that room for the $400+ I threw down for 2 nights in that hole. There weren't even any pictures on the wall. Don't let the website fool you.
