Barnetts Motel, Salem

All the people who stay here mostly live there too and I noticed that they drink excessively and are all on disability. One person even tried to sell me some Vicodin. Now I drive by and see they have a drive-thru store type thing...now they don't have to drink and drive anymore and can spend their whole check at this Indian guys place. Speaking of this can people legally live in a motel for months on end? The rooms are small and the one I was in you bounced right back off the bed. How is that comfortable, with a tinie tiny pillow to boot. So sick of spending money at places where they will probably send the money back to their homeland. And why has the drug task force not done anything about people staying here and selling their narcotics. I called but they are not in Mahoning county and Columbiana county has not taken any steps to stop this as far as I know. I will take the cheaper place right down the road because I know the owners are not into drugs at all and I respect them for that. How do I know this, well I still read the paper. Plus, have talked to owners when I thought someone was there dealing and they called the police right away. Goshen does not mess around with the drug thing at all. And the owners have always come up clean, they do refuse customers as it is their right to not let them stay there also. If you have been know to deal drugs, do not go there they will not let you stay there. They have been known to run background checks. Which is all they can do and it is legal for them to do. One other thing over Christmas last year I was there by myself and they brought me some of their dinner and gave me a free night stay. They did that just to do it. So quit putting them down they are genuine people with good hearts, and they even took payments when I could pay the full amount for the week. They help people whenever they can. The lady owner said that a lot of people run out on the bill because they do this, God bless them for what they do for others. Its a good stop over, such as when looking for a permanent place to stay.($150.00-$175.00 a week depending on the time of year.) Its just $35 bucks a night (year round) and the owner has even let me bum cigarettes off of him and they let you use the phone if you need it, doesn't matter long distance or not. Because who needs a phone in a room when we all have cell phones.So everyone just grow up and whats a night away from the internet. Oh my word. Give me a break. People need to just chill out and just sit and enjoy nature for a night. If you have any problems, just talk to the owners, they are great people. I am not sure but when is the last time anyone ever offered you food and company when you were alone and hungry, but just spent your last $35.00 on a roof for a night, plus they gave you one free? Makes you think what would Jesus do?Then that makes me think what could I do back for them in return. But they didn't want anything. So this is what I can do for them. Screw Barnett's Go to the Colonial Motel. Anyone out there in the drug task force , Columbiana county, please, please check out the Barnett's, very bad things going on there. These issues need to be taken care of. I felt safer at the Colonial rather than the Barnett's Motel. God bless and I hope this helps you all at the Colonial Motel. Oh yeah, they even clean the rooms together, I have watched them, they clean it as if they were cleaning their own house.

We stayed at Barnetts 2 days in June of 2010 and 2 days this June 2011. We had a great stay in 2010 and an even better stay in 2011. The owner has done many improvements in the last year and told us he is planning on more improvements. The room was reasonable and clean. We had a refrig and microwave which was very nice and had we had time, we would have used the pool because it looked great. The owner was very kind and friendly.We could tell her really cared that our stay was a nice one. There is a small store right next door which had anything we would need. We are planning to stay there next year.

After staying at another motel in the area, this place was a dream. The day I arrived there was a carpet cleaning company doing the carpets. That gave me the impression that this place actually cared about the cleanliness of the rooms. I think some of the bad reviews this place got was before the new owner took over. The room was recently renovated and was in good shape. I was really impressed with the bathroom. It too was renovated and clean. My room was only $5 more than the other place I was at and I can say it was well worth it. There was a mini fridge,microwave,free WIFI and cable tv. The store there also had everything I needed and the owner was very friendly. Overall my stay was enjoyable and I will definitely stay again the next time I am in town.

I stayed at this place this past September and it was disgusting. The price was pretty good but you get what you pay for. The room was dirty, the lamp shade had stains on it, the bathroom was just sick. No shower curtain, toilet paper or soap to wash your hands. The beds were hard and very uncomfortable. The service sucked as well. When the room was cleaned they kept the towels and didn't place new ones.....This place should be shut down or sold to better management and reopened after a good thorough makeover....I will not stay here again and recommend that you don't either

I was there in early July and liked it very much. the manager was very nice and helpful and always willing to talk. My room was very comfortable and cable TV. the pool was great and well kept up. the store infront of the motel had everything I needed. The price was perfect, quiet off the road and not far from Salem . FOUR STARS

when i checked in the lady didnt even speak english so she had to send out her probably 8 year old son to talk to me. i kept my shoes on to go into the bathroom because i thought id catch something from the dirty ground. i went 3 days ago and my legs wont stop itching! im scared. i hope i never have to go back here. i left after 2-3 hours.

The motel is disgusting the man running the place kept my credit card # & continues to charge my card for his own personal use. Hundreds of dollars at a time! DO NOT for any reason give this place your CC! They will steal from you too!!

My husband is a racer and has raced at the Salem track for the last few years and of course I thought we would save some money and stay at the cheaper place. This place is so dated it reminded me of the 60's o i didn't mean to give my age away. The place is dirty, old, small and I would rather sleep in my car any day then stay here. Lesson to self quit being cheap and stay somewhere nice.

I travel through the area pretty much on a weekly basis. I had to stay at this place one night because my place of choice was sold out. It was horribly out dated the beds were seriously probably from the 70's. The place is just not a place you want to stay its a PLACE you stay at if you HAVE TO.

I don't know who in there right mind would give this place a 5 star rating. It is dirty I rented a room and checked out 20 minutes later it was HORRIBLE. There is not a nice thing to say it has the same bedding my grandparents had 30 years ago. It has a horrible odor and the pool wasn't opened and doesn't appear to have been opened for quite some time.
