The hotel is in an old building, built sometime in the 1950s. The staff, particularly Mr. Minh the owner, are friendly and helpful.
Our room was large for such an old place, and the bathroom an average size. The fixtures were old, but in working order and the room and bathroom were clean. The furniture was old and a little rickety, but serviceable. The heater (more necessary at that altitude than air conditioning) was from a wall unit and kept the room at a good temperature. Mr. Minh was responsive to any questions or requests and works hard to keep the place in running order.
We had dinner at the Bear Creek Café, which I recommend for the food and the prices. There are several other restaurants nearby that Mr. Minh also recommended, with the caution that most close at 10 pm.
We spent a comfortable night, and packed up to leave in the morning. The nearby coffee shop was not yet open, but Mr. Minh made coffee for us in his office. We noticed that the hotel had filled up overnight, even though there are several other hotels along the same street. Our assumption is that the hotel is a good combination of clean, serviceable, and cheap as well as it is one of the few that accepts pets.
