NASTY hairs in the hot tub at check in
By in Johnstown, 6/30/11
I should have known it wasn't going to be good when the front desk girl made sure to give me the number if there was something wrong with my room (not much confidance). What a shocker, there was something disgustingly wrong. We were trying to get settled into our suite that we had rented for our anniversary get away. Very excited to relax and enjoy jacquzzi tub. And that's where disgusting comes in, there were short curly hairs through the tub, in the jets, on the walls, accompanied by something that looked like pine needles? There were no towels, used soap, and a mirror and bath mats that still had their Big Lot's price tags on. About as UNROMANTIC AS IT GETS. So we go to the front desk, pretty well grosed out, they apologize and let us know the cleaning lady is new, she's from Jamaica (like this is supposed to explain why it's not clean?)they send us to the bar for complimentary drinks and tell us they'll take care of it. 15 minutes later a lady taps me on the shoulder and say's we're good to go... IF ONLY WE WERE. Go back to the room, and granted there are at least towels now, but all the person could have done was run water and shut it off. There were still hairs (that didn't resemble the kind that grows on your head) in the jets, and circling the drain, and the already used bath soap remained. I go back AGAIN, the lady says she'll be right over. 5-10 minutes later, the poor bartender knocks on our door to clean the tub. Well that was it, we decided we were too grosed out to remain there. My husband went to get our money back, and the lady says she absolutely understands, and says it's funny, no one had stayed in that room yet! WAKE UP LIGONIER INN: Cleaning lady from Jamaica that apparently the whole staff knows can't clean, is MOST likely dipping in the hot tub instead of actually CLEANING. This would more than likely explain missing towels, used soap, and NASTY DISGUSTING CURLY SHORT HAIRS IN THE HOT TUB!?!?!?!?! The icing on the cake was that someone from management was there when I went to return our key, he had no idea of what was going on. When I told him he did apologize, but never sent any letter or compensation. We were forced to turn home at 6 o clock on a Saturday and find a room at the Comfort Inn in our local town. Well Money well spent at least, if you're in the Johnstown area, highly recommend them. I ended up saving over $100 from what Ligonier was going to charge me, and their hot tub was actually CLEAN, and the staff was more than competant. The sad part is, we stayed here last year, and really enjoyed ourselves, but the uncleanliness coupled with no follow-through for an unacceptable experience means that next year we will be going elsewhere.

Great Wedding Experience
By Bren, 1/25/09
My husband and I had our wedding at the Ligonier Country Inn in November, Our wedding was outstanding and was a great value for the money that we spent. The wedding planner was outstanding, he took care of our every need. In reading the other review, it doesn't sound like it was at the same place. The owners are very sweet and extremely caring, we had booked many rooms in the Inn as well, and could have not been more pleased. The reason we chose this place was because 2 friends of ours had their weddings there and were very pleased. I grew up in the restaurant business and I would rate this Inn as outstanding. We plan to spend our first year anniversary there! Thanks for taking great care of us!

Great place to eat!
By Lucky, 9/19/08
We go to the Ligonier Country Inn to eat about once a month. They have a great Sunday buffet. The food is delicious and have found the service to be excellent. Prices are comparable with others in the area.

Terrible customer service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/10/08
We had our wedding at Ligonier Country Inn. I have never recieved such terrible customer service in my life. I had some complaints about things that happened such as they threw all of our left over wedding cake away and ten minutes before the ceremony was to begin there were no chairs set up so my guests had to stand around. When I called to complain, the owner literally laughed and said she couldn't believe I was upset about those things. She said she hoped you would throw left over cake away!! Well I am sorry, I paid alot of money for my wedding cake and would have liked to have people take it home not have it thrown in the trash. I have never been treated so terrible by someone who owns a business. They obviously don't care about making their customers happy. We paid them thousands of dollars and I never even recieved an "I'm sorry". There were also numerous things that happened before the wedding that I was not happy with, and had it not been 1 month before my wedding I would have canceled. We have friends who also had their wedding there last October and they were not treated well either. I would never go back or suggest to anyone else to ever go there. As far as I am concerned they have no clue how to treat their customers!!! I have worked in the restaurant business for 10 years and I would have been fired if I ever treated someone the way we were treated numerous times. They have a beautiful setting and people get married everyday, so you think they would want to treat people well, but that is not the case. It makes me sick to think about the amount of money we spent there only to be treated like crap!! I hope anyone would think twice before planning an event there.
