A great value
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/16/11
Easy to get to, plenty of restaurants and other amenities nearby. Nothing fancy. Price was right and the room was clean and well furnished. Both room and bathroom were good size. Air conditioner worked well, clean linens and plenty of towels. Motel is on about 5 acres, away from road, so noise from turnpike was nominal. Cable, including free movies, was better than average. Bathtub was clean but could use new chalking soon. If I go that way again, I will get glad to stay again.

great bang for the buck
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/18/11
My wife and I found this place online and it had 7 positive reviews on Yahoo maps so we tried it and here is the 8th. This mom and pop is nothing fancy but has a spectacular location and view far enough from the expressway that we could not hear it. The room was clean and comfortable. For a 12 hour stay, it was all we needed. The attendant, who we assumed was the owner, was helpful in recommending places to eat and was kind enough to give us some forks for the take out Chinese we decided to bring back to the room. A full Mr. Coffee pot was in the lobby when we got up. Don't let the spartan look fool you when you drive up to it. The view of a huge Georgian mansion and sculpted grounds is out the private picture window out the back. Somerset is a good stopping point for us when visiting our daughter in D.C. and this will be where we stay on future trips.

Inexpensive, nice place to stay.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/13/10
Can't beat the price of the Dollar Inn in Somerset, PA. $40 per night is what my wife and I payed when we stayed here in October of 2010. This is an older 1950s/60s era classic style mom & pop motel but is remarkably well kept and updated. Quiet and relaxing as well - there were maybe two other rooms occupied on the Sunday night we stayed here. The rooms are surprisingly large. The bathroom was clean and well kept. Nice satellite TV and small refrigerator in the room. This is the place to stay in Somerset if you are a no-frills budget minded traveler who is just looking for simple, clean and inexpensive accomodations for the night.

Will Definitely Return
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/13/09
Was surprised at how clean the room was, plenty of space, very quiet away from the street and turnpike noises. Also paid $40 for the night, and felt it was a good value. The room appeared to have been recently updated with a new fridge, microwave, fresh paint, and carpet. Was very hesitant about staying when I did not see any other cars in the parking lot on an early Saturday evening. The next day, did see several cars there. Would recommend it to anybody needing a non-fancy, but comfortable room.

Breath of Fresh Air to the Budget Traveller
By Mr. Flak, 4/3/09
Likes: Probably not for the 'Comfort Suites' crowd but ample accomodations for us 'gimme a bed for the night' types. Paid $40 for the night. It came with a fridge/microwave/free wi-fi/cable. For the price, I was quite surprised at the quality/cleanliness of the rooms. It was a quieter/less-expensive version of the Econolodge. I regularly do the DC-to-Chicago trip and think this will be the old standby on my journeys from now on. Dislikes: A strong curry-smell in the lobby--but you're only there for like two minutes.

I like this place because it is quite. The rooms are really clean especially the bathroom and the beds. The price is reasonable. I would go back again.

Don't want to go back
By Heather, 5/6/06
I called ahead of time and got a rate and then went to the hotel in person and asked for a rate and the price she quoted me was so much higher than the price she quoted me on the phone. The clerk was very rude. The bathroom floor was dirty and had hair on it. There was no shampoo in the bathroom. I don't suggest this place to anyone.
