Place with an identity crisis
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/23/08
This old historic inn is located in a beautiful mountain setting that should foster peace and tranquility in its guest. Unfortunately the place is having a major identity crisis. The owners cannot decide if the place is a relaxing, sophisticated country inn or the local bar.
The lounge has a live rock band on the weekends until midnight. With the inn only having 19 guest rooms there is no way of getting away from the noise. Our room was warm but we were unable to open the door to our patio due to all of the people outside smoking. Ultimately we paid for a room that we were unable to sleep in for no more than few hours.
The restaurant is definitely not the 4 1/2 star restaurant that they claim it to be. The food was average and the service was very poor. The only thing that was even slightly reminiscient of a 4 1/2 star restaurant were the prices. The service was equally as poor in the lounge. It appeared that if you were not a local, they really did not care if you got waited on or not.
We had to hunt down an employee to check out in the morning. They were all out on the front patio smoking.
If you want to party all night, this may be the spot for you, but I doubt it is worth the price of the room.
